Apparently, I ran a stop sign. Well, I didn't. I stopped about three feet before the stop line because I saw another car was going to be there at about the saem time as me, and I didn't want to get into an awkward stare-down with him. So I stopped EARLY, to a FULL stop, thus making it so I go first. The cop was no where to be seen, so he must have been very far away.
He pulls me over, and asks me if I know why I was pulled over, which I replied "No?" and he explained that he saw me run a stop sign. I explained what happened, and he said "No, you ran a stop sign" and went to write me a ticket. So now, because some dumb****in cop can't see properly or was just purposely being an asshole, I get to pay $128 for the ticket, and maybe a few thousand due to insurance hikes.
i'm going to have to be in full agreement with you. some are just rotten. though, i can't completely say that because the cop in my town, knows me and my family.. i was once speeding 80+ in a 35 right outside of town... and he pulled me over and told me i was a lunatic and told me to drive slower xD if that had been a normal cop i'd have lost my driving abilities.
My grandmother's funeral, heading to airport and my car pips a tire. We are 1 hour late and when pulling in, a cop pulls us over for going 5 mph over the speed limit (35 mph limit). Just terrible how they are.
A city in California had put gopro cams on cops and complaints were almost down 90 percent. Abuse of power was down 85.
I am going to go to court over it to dispute it. The worst part is that my word will mean nothing, and if he has dashcam footage, it will be from so far away that it will make me look like I ran the stop sign. There is no way for me to prove my side of the story, and so disputing it will likely lead to nothing.
Because it is "just" a moving violation, there are no fees unless noted on the ticket. I am going to try to get it wiped off my record by appealing to take a drivers safety class in person, and present a completion certificate. The ticket fine and class fee are nothing compared to a minimum of 15% insurance cost hike.
Only time I really came in touch with someone was when he suddenly popped up behind us and thought I was trying to vandalize an empty building with my little brother. Luckily he believed me when I said we were just playing :P
Just an update. Went to court today, got a "plea deal" that raises the fine $10 to $135, but stays off the record as long as I don't get other tickets. /win :P
