    What you could try is making a bootable Windows 10 USB stick (google it, there is an official Microsoft program that does this), putting your SSD inside your laptop, and trying if it recognises it when installing a new Windows. You do not need to use a Windows license for this. If it shows up in the select drive/format thingy here, you know that it at least works, without (supposedly) any conflicting OS things.

    My thoughts are that the SSD just isn't working, I have a friend I can call upon on Monday, I will get him to check it. I have had the same issues on 2 laptops so I think its the hardware rather than the software.

    It was the new USB cable not working, borrowed a replacement from a friend and the drive works, halfway through cloning.
