Im still confused tho on how in such a big radius for the rv to travel after being cornered, they were able to catch Eugene and find the location of the others so quickly
SPOILER ALERT: They herded them (they blocked off the roads, and probably knew they'd ditch the RV) into where they got cornered, and they have lots of people - I think they were able to be everywhere at once and could thus stalk them from the woods, maybe?
Also it was totally Glenn at the end. POV shot throughout the episode was the back of the van - Glenn was last to get out. There's also some muted screams of his name after the camera goes to black. We shouldn't have to figure this out like that though, the cliffhanger was cheap and got in the way of the impact of the scene.
SPOILER ALERT: Yeah I was kind of hoping it would be Glenn...
I don't have a vendetta against him but the crap AMC pulled when he crawled under a dumpster was unlogical and let me down. Acting was awesome though, I especially liked Negan. He is a character that is not so easy to cast and Jeffrey Dean Morgan fit it pretty epicly.
Me not have read the comics yet, Im interested to see what will happen now. Rick has always been in control. Whether it was shaky or not, he was the big bad wolf who could always somehow overcome a situation and now he was beaten and forced to watch his fellow (wo)man beaten in front of him. Interesting change of predator to prey and should follow up with a new rhythm in the show
I just love how speechless he was throughout the whole thing. He couldn't even talk to Negan until he threatened to kill Carl - with the Governor, he got cocky with him really easily.
I just want to hear his 'I'll f***ing kill you' line to Negan while the dead person is laying on the ground in front of them next season. After that I'm in the dark on what happens (maybe not for long if I buy more comics...), and I can't wait for it.
Naw it was a good ending and very well done. Gotta remember this whole season they thought they could handle anything in their way. The end of THIS story was to show Rick and the gang that things are not as clear as they think. They are not the top dogs. The death at the end is not part of that story. That is the start of the next story, in season 7.
The point of the death in the comics is that it shows Negan's brutality in that in his first appearance he kills a main character and an emotional anchor for the group. The death is emotional and shocking. The way the show is handling it kinda takes away from that.
I'd have been perfectly fine with the way the comic left it, a dead body on the floor with no head and the group crying over it while Negan walks away and gives a simple 'ta ta'. This cliffhanger was done to try and increase ratings for the Season 7 premiere, and it took away from the scene IMO.
People keep using that 'ratings' excuse as if anyone would stop watching if they did show who died. They most popular show on TV right now, people are going to tune in no matter what. We all have our opinions.
For me, as far as story arc, etc. this was a good ending. It still showed his brutality like the comics. The person who died is part of the next story.
The last time they did a cliffhanger even somewhat like this was back in Season 4's finale. Season 5 opened up with their most watched premiere ever and I think of all time. Season 5 didn't really finish with a cliffhanger, and Season 6's opening was nowhere near that level. It would make sense AMC get the biggest cliffhanger possible so the season premiere gets as much money as possible.
Even when they asked Scott Gimple why he ended it there, he said "it made sense". Beyond that he struggled to explain. He didn't want that cliffhanger because he knows its poor storytelling, it was purely a marketing decision.
