The one time I actually tried to do something following a tutorial, the tutorial was outdated and I was clueless as to how to do something, so I gave up. That was 3 weeks ago. I am not a patient man :/
The exact same thing happened to me a couple of years back XD I was trying to figure out how to use variables when i was like screw dis imma just do something else
I've managed to get a basic little thing working. It's not as hard as I thought it was when I wrote this status. Tom Francis (developer of Gunpoint, Floating Point, the upcoming Heat Signature) is a good teacher. If you ever want to learn GM, I'd reccomend him. I'd reccomend Shaun Spalding and Heartbeast for people who kind of already know what they're doing :P
I think that because that's what I've been using previously to learn Game Maker and I wasn't really getting anywhere. Both of them kind of just go off and do their own thing without breaking it down properly and explaining exactly what it is they're doing, which makes it a slight bit difficult to follow.
Tom breaks things down bit by bit and starts off with a small project that he allows to grow over time, rather than having a plan (I guess) as soon as he starts.
I used hardly any tutorials back when I learnt gamemaker, which made it took a lot longer, but also made me learn more to help other people starting.
Anyway, are you starting with Drag & Drop or do you go right to GML?
