I am in semi-agreement with this. While I do believe that a person should have the right to use a weapon to defend themselves, there is no need for a person to own or be able to purchase any kind a military style weapon.
You got your American, like fun it should! lol Nice bait. Guns are the 2nd thing mentioned in the supreme law of the land written by the founding fathers of our nation.
Only to prevent the restriction of importation of slaves before 1808 so southern states would ratify it. Jan 1, 1808 congress passed a bill restricting it. The 13th admendment abolished slaverly.
I blame dihydrogen monoxide. We should ban it. It's in our drinking water! It kills roughly 4000 people in the US every year, but it's hardly ever in the news.
Cars are meant for transportation, if people die in accidents it's... an accident. Now guns are meant for killing (please don't say otherwise, it'd be stupid). If someone uses a gun for killing other people it's purely because they wanted to kill those people.
Now, if people started using cars to purposely kill other people, lets say invading schools and churches with their cars and running over them (see what I did here?), then you'd might have a case against cars or anything else.
I've shot a gun many times, and I've never had any intention of killing anyone or anything. What I meant by the whole car thing is, it isn't the car or gun doing the killing, it is the person driving the car or wielding the gun. I'm gonna stop there so nfell's profile page isn't a gun debate haha.
The problem with guns is that they give a person who wants to kill, the means to do it. The NY times made a good point when they asked why people have access to weapons of war, intended to be used to kill lots of people in a short period of time.
In Australia, we have access to guns, but you have to be a good shot and be able to reload really fast to kill more than 5 people.
guns aren't the problem. society is. its easy to blame an inanimate object rather than facing the real problem, which is bigger than just guns. its people, society, and the government. when you instill fear into the masses, they're going to do stupid stuff. its human nature. fear makes us irrational, desperate, or crazy.
a gun is a tool, a tool cannot function without someone wielding it. unfortunately most of those people are mentally ill, or just plain stupid, and act on the fear that mass media produces. no country is perfect. the only difference is the severity of their flaws.
But unfortunately, society can't be fixed. So if you can't sure the problem, at least prevent it from killing hundreds of innocent people every year with machines intended for war.
The gun should of never been able to be used by the public. For war uses, then yes. But for protection/defence or whatever bs people use to justify any use of a gun within everyday life, then no.
Mba2012, 2nd admendment was created to ensure the individual liberties they were creating wasn't going to be infringed upon by the new government making the revolution a waste of time. Also no need more name calling :P. Your opinion is as valid as mine or anyone here. Have you heard the saying, the tree of liberty must be refreshed with blood of tyrants and patriots?
I don't want to get involved with the whole gun debate, because I'm pretty sure I've made my stance on them clear plenty of times lol.
I like gun culture and religion doing things to gun nut religious whackos, like this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wx5aXKprvjM
Muhahaha I'm alerting everyone to nothing! Well... how about this to keep things going. The gold standard should be brought back. And also add copper, silver, and platinum as legal tender value holders to address liquidity issues. Go!
