Simple enough. but then I fall from that immediately after I die, then I don't take fall damage! Which was stupid! So I thought: Maybe I can build up to 256 blocks, then drop down to bedrock using the same platform I use all the time... So I tried it. And it worked! I got a stack of heads in stock right now.
