An issue that I've encountered, having done a name change, is that some of the voting websites now only accept the new name, meaning that you can't get a bonus from them. I'm not sure how many of the websites it affects, as of yet, but I thought it worth pointing out - might still be worth waiting until EMC starts recognising the new names before changing your name! [So far I've noticed this with mineservers.net - out of the three I've tried]
