Is running a shop worthy it?

  1. Hi nuttyknight42 here, asking the age old question is it worth it to run a shop on emc.

What are the pros and what are the cons.

I run a shop on emc before and it seems very slow.

    What do you think folks?
  2. I think it's worth it.

There are good times and not as far as selling stuff. Luckily I'm not here strictly to earn rupees. I've found having a large stock of each item helps sales since I can respond quickly to someone looking to buy an item.

It's challenging to figure out what to gather in the wasteland for the shop because sand was a hot seller last month but certainly not this month.

So, my advice would be to stock pile a bunch of items then watch chat for clues on what to offer.

There are a few decently stocked shops around but don't let that be a negative since I've noticed new players tend to shop on the smp their res is on.

  3. I've held the believe for many years that if your goal is rupees, try to become a regular action host, find your niche for demand items, and sell what you like to grind for through that.

However, having a shop has its own pros and cons, however the biggest thing there is visibility. make players aware that your shop exist, if you only advertise your shop at 5pm on fridays, then only those people know that your shop exist. Try to add some variation when you promote it, so you attract from many different types of players.

  4. I agree with the auctions. That can suplement shop sales. I find I frequent shops that I know of, but that also carry a wide variety of items... so advertising is important, but so is a large variety and supply. That is see can be cumberso.e to obtain and maintain.

I also feel a number of players work to supply existing shops, which may be easier in the short term.

  5. Unless you like *running* a shop, I'd personally say no. I just make money via the niche Promo market or auctions.

  6. Personally I have never been able to get through the tedium of setting a shop up - building the structure, deciding what to price things, stocking it..

I think I do more like what farmerguy is suggesting. I like to keep a good stockpile of most items just so I have anything I might want, and then any time someone asks for something in chat I can also just make a deal on the spot.
Auctions are the real moneymaker though.

  7. Auctions are a good way to earn rupees but the quantities offered lately have really brought values down.
