I think you're right. Although maybe a mod could clarify/add it to the list (and let the auction continue), because templates 100% should be one of the rare vanilla items.

I would see shards as rare, not templates.
Shards are not craftable, templates are.
Sure, you need 7 stacks of diamond blocks to make 9 stacks of a given template, but I fully expect to see that kind of quantities going around before long (we're 12 hours since the update and we got already a stack here!)
