Cannot log into SMP4, "Read timed out" error message

  1. After trying to log into SMP4 for about half an hour, I decided to post a message here. Basically, I can't log into SMP4, but can log into some other servers (e.g. SMP8 and SMP7). When trying to log into SMP4, where my res is located, I get the following error message:

    Internal exception: java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out

    The EMC website says there are 17 other players logged into SMP4 so it doesn't look like the server's down. Any ideas as to what I can do?

  2. The same thing is happening to me right now for SMP1

  3. Just tried logging into each of EMC's servers. I'm getting errors when I try to log into SMP1, 4 and 9. All the other servers seem to work fine.

  11. Defiantly server related, not client, multiple people were having problems, and when 1 finally went back up, everyone was joining it

  13. Possibly just a coincidence and impeccable timing. I did restart my client multiple times, so that didn't help. Just had to wait until the server came back up.

    As a side note, apparently when a server goes down, the EMC website still shows booted users as being logged in, so that's not a particularly useful way of seeing if the server's up or not.
