  4. Why anyone would want a wooden pick I don't know... - You also can't use a chest to trade them, only drop trades.

  5. What's not to like? It mines slowly so you don't have to worry about accidentally destroying another block, it only has 64 uses so there's a reason to carry more than one, and after you're done with them, chuck them in the furnace!
