As many of you will know, this server uses a very basic system to prevent flying - the default vanilla one. This system is not a good way of antifly, something far better would be NoCheat. NoCheat is a plugin that is a global antihack plugin, it does very well to do this and reports anyone who uses a detectable hack to a person with the correct permission. Also, the second thing I would quickly like to suggest is a spam filter system that autokicks for spamming.
I am working on an anti-spam system. We cant just use a public bukkit one because we have a custom chat system (with channels, being able to turn chat off, etc). As far as flying, we do have other methods of catching flyers. I have played with NoCheat before and the thing I don't like about it is it gives a ton of false positives, such as when you are falling, walking strange on stairs, sprinting and jumping, etc. I am working on a couple proprietary methods to keep flying from happening at all. With the vanilla fly protection you can only fly for a very short period, and then it is logged and you are kicked, I use these logs to ban players so just because we don't catch them in the act we still get them
Ok, I have found myself doing it by accident quite a few times in the past, I have now removed the mod entirely from my client. Thanks. Oh, and a quick suggestion for JUST fly banning is a plugin called CFBanner.
I didn't read the thread correctly. but my opinion oon such addons as anti cheat is that they are bloated with a lot of features you just don't need. You don't need to check the users who have permissions, tell that person when they addon can just terminate that users connected. on large servers the key is to minimize what the server has to do to get something does the more steps the more time and power it uses. This server still (I know you're trying your hardest Justin, this is nothing about you, you do a fantastic job) has a lot of bloated un-needed patrts of addons that were fine to run when the server was small as it's growing these become more apparent... that and minecraft is coded like balls anyway. So long story short, the anti fly while it be crude does it's job better than something that also does 4564564 unneeded things as well as anti fly.
