I can't seem to remember whether its forge or modloader that allows you to turn off the mods that you have installed because i have some mods that i want to use buy aren't exactly allowed on emc. please help.
I've been using Magic Launcher. It's been great: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/939149-launcher-magic-launcher-100-mods-options-news/
ok so magic launcher is the one that i need to keep my mods and to just turn them off when i log in to multiplayer
Good point. I'm not exactly sure what the difference is since I skipped the manual, but the program makes a distinction between "Internal" and "External" mods. I'm running Forge, Optifine, and Rei's Minimap as internal mods with Inventory Tweaks as an External one. I have my external mods located in my Minecraft mods folder and the others are elsewhere. When you install a mod as Internal, you configure its location in the interface so it doesn't have to be in the Minecraft folder tree. I did this because Magic Launcher was trying to load everything that was in the mods folder and I was afraid it was installing the internal ones twice.
I use magic launcher it is so good!! I have (In this order on list) modloader, forge, optifine, rei minimap, what's my light level. As externails... Inv tweaks, two of the HUD ones
when i try to put those two together they dont want to load one bit and just crash my game really fast is there any way to avoid that
Start with just magic launcher and an unmodded minecraft installation. Hopefully you have a backup. Try adding just forge and test it, then optifine, rei's, and so on. Test each time. If you don't have a minecraft backup, you can download the 1.4.2 jar from here and copy it in over top of a fresh installation: http://assets.minecraft.net/1_4_2/minecraft.jar
Mod loader sin't required when using Minecraft Forge, In fact running both mods causes problems with Minecraft. Any mod that requires mod loader will work perfectly fine with forge so if you are using forge don't install mod loader...
