Moving to a better server

  1. In order to support everything we want to do with the Empire, and keep the server running as smooth as possible, we need to upgrade our server! This migration will take place over the next week or so. I will do my best to keep everyone updated, so if you experience any server problems be sure to check the website or the Twitter (@EmpireMinecraft) for any updates.

    For the nerds that want to know what the new server configuration will be:
    • Intel i7 Quad Core 3.4GHz (8mb L3 cache, 5 GT/s FSB)
    • 16GB DDR3-1333 (this is what MC eats a lot of, we currently have 1GB!)
    • 250 GB SATA HDD (7200 RPM)
    • 40GB Intel X25-V SSD (for the world chunks, will greatly improve speeds)
    • CentOS 5.6 64-bit

  3. The server was done burning in yesterday, I am working on getting it setup now, I will keep everyone posted.
