  1. If someone says that the world is going to end, walk up to them, and say....

"Oh, the worlds going to end? Well, I guess I can have your house, money, and car, because you wont be needing them."

  2. Hmmm interesting theory...

  3. There actually is a scientific explanation.
  4. You do realize, that scientists don't even know if the calender ends on dec. 21, 2012. Infact, they said it could be about the middle of summer. In the year...

    Wait for it...

    Wait for it...

    8k!
  5. No the world isn't going to end in December, because my yoghurt expires in January.
  6. Oh yes? Which one?

  7. Maybe it will... if Justin Beiber and Rebecca Black are doing a duet. In all seriousness though, it's really stupid. We could make a calendar going up to 5000 A.D. Would people think the world would end at the end of that?
  8. If you think its going to end based on the Mayan Calender, you were wrong. The Mayan Calender didnt account for leap years, and having being made over a thousand years ago, the world should have ended some time in 2011.

  9. lemme put it this way, the Mayans ran out of paper. :p from my standpoint, t seems more like that. me and my mom get on this subject allot ( we have the same opinion ) and didn't the Spanish invade their territory around that time? and if i remember right.. ( i MAY be thinking about something else ) all their paper work was destroyed, so i think, that they hid some of their civilizations work away to save something. the Mayan's didn't just disappear. think about it. thousands of people gone in the blink of an eye. ( the way it was told ) sounds quite retarded doesn't it?

but if the world does end, im blaming it on Justin and Rebecca. :p and yes, i do win almost every argument i get into.

adding in jay's post too , forgot about that. ( its really 2013, not 2012 )

  10. Bump! :D

News Flash! A solar storm may cause some power cuts and other rubbish, nothing major to end it.

  11. The Mayans were developing a new calendar when they mysteriously disappeared... That is what I heard anyway.
  12. nfell2009 asked me to copy my post to this thread, so I am ... here it is :

If the Mayans were so smart, how did they not predict their own demise? Plus there were no day-lights saving time back then ... so if you take away the extra day, every 4 years on (leap year) ... We should have already been dead by now ... Mass hysteria always irks me - because most of the human minds are easily fooled ... There is also literally nothing that can happen to wipe out the 'entire' world at same time:
    • Earthquakes: (that is caused by plate tectonics shifting apart) but where do those plates go? they shift in opposite direction ... well the earth is infinitely round so it's not as if the land can physically fall off the planet.
    • Flooding: (We have mountains) and for the ice in northern Antarctica to be melting - that would mean it's freezing in the south antarctic region - so we can technically never be fully flooded.
    • Meteors: (We have the atmosphere and geographical barriers) when meteors enter the atmosphere they will start to disintegrate, burning up and getting smaller before it reaches earth to do significant damage; also we have mountains and underwater regions where the meteors can't easily reach.
    • blizzards, hurricanes, tornadoes: Imagine the entire atmosphere is a bunch of bubbles pushed next to each other, and when one moves or expands it pushes the others ... that is how cold and warm fronts work ... there can never be a storm everywhere's at once because the other fronts are being pushed by the storm and vice- versa - thus meaning the storms have a limit in size.
    • I'm no religious expert - but if you believe this is also one of the apocalyptic happenings ... is when (God) come's back to earth; I wouldn't expect him to kill everyone ... I think his followers go with him and everyone stays on earth (earth therefor becoming hell - with all of the so called apocalyptic happenings)
If you believe in any of those - I just showed you (and no ... i'm not a scientist) how any of those things could possibly cause an (apocalypse) to happen.
For the rest of you - enjoy your 12/12/12 ... it only happens every 100 years :D

  13. And the believers will go, "Nuh-uh!".
  14. Good point. They have been mentioning it on Nation Geographic. (They have a guide to surviving the apocalypse).

But the world won't end because you can just buy a new calendar and there. You have another day. But anyway wasn't the world meant to end in August of this year too? And in the 1980s?

  15. I bet a friend $100 dollars that the world won't end. It doesn't matter, if he accepts the bet, then I either get $100 dollars (which will happen), or we're both dead, and I won't have to pay anything.
  16. That is a good idea.

  17. I know the whole 2012 apocalypse idea is pretty far-fetched. So let me tell you about an asteroid called "Apophis" :)

It's not sure to hit Earth, but it seems like there's a significant possibility that it will in 2036.
