that's based on your preferences. I have almost 7DC of shulkers filled with red nether bricks, but I won't suggest that everyone should have the same. On the other hand I barely have any coral, but someone might have DCs of each color
With shulker in chest storage you probably only need one DC per item. I used to have 3000+ DC's on my res but since shulkers are so cheap I've eliminated at least 80% of them. An important note, the problem with cheap shulkers is that it is just too easy to pile them around a res after a trip through the waste and grab more empty ones for the next trip so beware of the shulker. Use them wisely for storage.
