Someone (a banned player) has spawned a wither on my newly minted outpost island. It has destroyed a large area underground. It is not hemmed in by bedrock. Eventually it will get loose on the SMP5 wild. When that happens, everyone's builds will be in danger. How can this thing be removed? - Andy
I'd ask a staff first but I'm pretty sure they'd just tell you to kill it, or maybe an SS can despawn it.
It's currently being looked into. Whoops, Boulder was faster than I was! Next time, please contact staff directly for this sort of thing so we'll be sure to see it. I only noticed this thread by fluke. If there aren't any staff currently online for your SMP, you can use /staff to track one down. If none of us are online at the time, send one of us a PM on the forums. ^_~*
Any notable missing blocks by the way? Because if there's anything substantially missing then I know a group which might be able to help you out. With all due respect but this is in the Help & Support forum, shouldn't it be second nature for staff to keep an eye out for this place? See, you're not totally wrong here but the risk of PM'ing an individual staff member is that they might not be active or maybe on a vacation or whatever. That creates the added risk for more delays. Posting it here keeps it notable for the entire community, and reduces the risk of contacting an individual who may or may not spot the whole thing in time.
If you PM one staff member when you have a problem, it's no ones fault but your own if you don't get help.
why not go all the way and pm a dangerously inactive staff member who will likely be kicked from the staff team in a matter of several weeks if you're gonna do stupid do stupid right
I beg to disagree. Not every player is the same here, there are even players who are apparently under the impression that staff is all knowing and who knows what. Often younger players (personal impression), also players who hardly roam these forums (personal observation). Different players, different playing styles, different attitudes and different impressions. We may know better than to PM one staff member, but that's purely based on experience. Something dozens of players don't have. Also: http://pmss.emc.gs/ exists (PM all SS), http://pmdev.emc.gs/ exists (PM all devs) even http://pmcm.emc.gs/ exists; PM all community managers (Hoi Kryssyy! ). but... http://pmstaff.emc.gs/ not so much.... "PM staff" does not imply "pm the whole team" because there's no option for that, it implies what it says: PM a staff member. And that raises my concerns above. And to go the extra mileage: there's also no way for anyone to tell how (in)active a player is from within these forums. After all: some players are pretty much non-existent here yet play daily. Bottom line: this isn't such a clean cut case as some of you would like to make it look like. Therefor: the Help & Support forum should be a defacto place to go to, just like PM'ing in-game is. If staff has issues missing threads in the official help forum then it is my opinion that staff should pay better attention to said official help forum.
The intention of the help and support forums is to address matters involving the Empire Minecraft servers that are not considered urgent or sensitive. Anything urgent/sensitive such as, but not limited to, major bugs, supporter related concerns, requests for staff assistance, reports you wish to file, etc. should not be posted here and should be sent to staff via forum PM or in game PM. This helps maintain confidentiality of the issue at hand while ensuring the issue is addressed as quickly as possible. If it is a report related concern it is strongly recommended that multiple staff members are added to the PM conversation on the forums so it can be checked on as quickly as possible.
Just to clear up some things... I asked around in-game for help with it. Didn't really get any response as the wither started going vertical from where it was underground. No senior staff were online, waited around quite a bit for any senior staff to log on on any smp, no dice. I logged off so the chunks were automatically unloaded in hopes that it would give me time to address the issue without it escaping to the surface. I had to leave & knew i couldn't really be on all weekend, so i posted here. I don't have the ability to kill a wither without a bow then i have no rupees to replace armor etc on top of no bow. I had the game swallow my items not too long ago (including a bow that i could have easily killed it with). So, forgive me if i hesitated to risk another set of armor etc being lost fighting something that i had nothing to do with. Also, thank you to whomever took care of the issue. My main concern was that the thing would get loose and wreck people's hard work. - Andy
I agree 100% with this. This is why I PM Krysyy and all Senior Staff (on forums) if I have a very important question, need to file a report, etc.
Thankfully nothing is missing, however my picks and a bunch of other stuff were placed in a space spot when i went to take a look at the wither. I figured i could distract it so it wouldn't go up, which worked till i had to leave. now i gotta go and figure out where i put it all, haha! - Andy

Please do not wait for SS to show up, you may not see them for weeks. Normally they are hidden when logged in so they can accomplish their duties without interruption. If URGENT assistance is required use /staff and go to their SMP. If none online, use /report if you know the player causing the problem or as a last resort, /report your alt or a friend that won't mind. Moderators are here to moderate chat and handle griefing,theft,scams,casino issues, etc. SS will be called to assist by moderators if needed. On the forums, use the report button at the top of the thread. The best method to report a player is /report. Even when no staff are ingame we are often watching for these reports and can log in to handle them. Use pmss.emc.gs for non-urgent SS requests such as Senior Staff services or removal of random withers that won't cause too many problems if they sit around for a few days. In hamboy's case, using /staff first would have been the best option. If urgent then /report an alt or friend. If no response or he felt it wasn't urgent then he could have started a convo with pmss.emc.gs.
