  1. So, today in chat I saw some new players trying to form a community to live on an island in the wild.

Nothing wrong, until I saw that the island is less than 2000 blocks from a spawn and there are plenty of structures in the 5000 block limit.

I pinged a mod, but I received no reply and saw no reaction, I asked them if they made sure they could build there, but they ignored me.

    What should have I done?

  2. As far as I know, your allowed to build pretty much anywhere you like in the wild. The 5000 blocks rule only applies if you want to establish your base as an official outpost.

As new players I doubt they know or care about the outpost feature, they probably just want to build a base together. As long as they aren't breaking any rules like griefing existing builds, I'd say leave them to it.

You could mention the 5000 rule to them with a link to the wiki about establishing outposts so they can decide for themselves if they want to move. But other than that I'd say leave them build.
