I figured out how to find it on the live map too. The new tutorial looks cool from what we can see and the town looks weird. Sadly I can't see what the new nether looks like.
Well, since you can see stage now... you realize it's (mostly) a horrible mess of weird buildings, interspersed with some cool stuff... Also, depending on what we are testing - it could lag like you wouldn't believe.
I've never been there. Perhaps I will check it out later. I'm on a 4G hotspot now. As far as lag goes, I used to "lag" like crazy @ krysyy's shop on SMP2. Of course, it was client side - as I was on a laptop with no GPU.
Talking of lag, sometimes my desktop lags loads, and sometimes it doesn't lag at all. And it's a shame that stage isn't even open for 1 day a year.
Are you running Optifine? If you're desktop is a bit older (as my desktop is) it can really help. Especially once you tweak the settings perfectly. I really don't understand all the interest in seeing stage. There is absolutely nothing interesting there. Unless we are testing something. In which case, it may even be LESS interesting.
There is not any need to see stage, all the tests for new updates etc, if approved and have no bugs they will be on all the normal servers anyway! ~FDNY21
Stage? Simple. It is where everything goes wrong because the admins get to relax and do WHATEVER THEY WANT. Thinking that no one knows what they are doing.
Um... that doesn't make sense. The stage server is simply for testing in an environment before we roll out updates.
