  1. the pm was not about his opinion, rather how he presents it. i dont mind anyone's opinion, no matter how wrong it may be. in fact im more likely to argue for your right to voice your wrong opinion then argue against said opinion

  2. I do not agree with kitten... at all.

We had 12 random jurors who were anonymously selected by the state to juror over this case. 12 people, one verdict.

These 12 people had to change their minds or agree with everyone. Those 12 people agreed that he deserved to die.

According to the poll it is about a 50/50 so 6 of those people most likely wanted him to die and 6 likely wanted him to rot in prison. Those 6 people had to change their minds.

If 12 random people think he deserves to be killed, then I can only agree...
  3. That is where the american judicial system is ABSOLUTELY MENTAL. People have to waste time to go into court and decide on punishment for others. In many cases, they do not want to waste their time. If they get stuck and no one wants to change their mind, they aren't at their jobs and bad things occur. So people often will not go with what they actually think and just what the majority wants just so it will end early. Sure they get paid for being there... but wage is small.
    Thank you for clarification.
  4. The percentage of people who will change their mind because they are there too long is very low. I posted a link to a movie I want everyone to see earlier in the thread, here is that link again. This movie wont change your mind, but it opened my mind more when I first saw the movie in my 7th grade Civics Class.

I agree, in some cases a verdict can be issued falsely by the jurors and there is nothing you can do to stop that. But if you have 12 people deciding your fate or 1 person, which will you choose?[/quote]
  5. I completely agree. Funny thing is, I spoke to my father today about how much I hate nuclear war. Nukes and chemical weapons should not be used. Ever.
  6. You have NO IDEA what it is like to have someone try to kill you? I have. Someone shot me 3 times and almost ended my life for the 20 bucks in my wallet? I would have killed him if I had the chance. So when someone comes after you with intent to kill and you do the above things? Come tell me how that worked out.
  7. The U.S doesn't kill innocent people un-provoked.
  8. And neither do many other people...
  9. And that's why they aren't in jail.
  10. This should really be your only action when someone is trying to kill you...otherwise you're just ignoring your other options...

  11. There are more innocent people in the area of that drone strike than there are bad guys. Not only is it a completely dishonorable method of fighting a battle, its not worth it. I'd much rather have those marines/soldiers go into that town and shoot the 'bad guys' themselves than kill and severely injure innocent infants, children, adults and elderly.

Scenario time: 200 people are in a drone strike area. 15 of those are terrorists. A drone strike is ordered: It kills 170 people (including the 15 terrorists), maims 20 and leaves just 10 people physically healthy. Is that OK to you?
  12. The reason they use drones now instead of soldiers is to make sure that US Troops dont die in the line of fire. I dont think the innocent civilians dying is right, but I dont want the soldiers that keep my country safe every day to be in danger.

  14. This is a very controversial thread indeed.
  15. Soldiers and Marines know they can die when they sign up, and that they're supposed to be protecting people from the guys they're fighting - not getting a drone to order a bomb strike on them and the guys they actually want to kill.

Also, doesn't the US have an SAS-like division? Where they have specially trained soldiers to go in and kill the guys they want to kill instead of blowing up buildings and people? Then again, I'm pretty sure the only reason why the UK has this is because we are legally bound to rules set by the Red Cross...

  18. We have several, but again, it's a decision based on the idea that drone strikes are better than flag-draped coffins.
  19. Well, it really depends who's flag is going to be draped over the coffin.
