SPOILER guide for Zahnenn Halloween 2020

  1. Normally I would never post something like this, but I've been answering the same questions again and again for hours today. Chickeneer said it sounded like a good idea, so here goes. Please only use this guide if you are having trouble completing the quests or understanding them.

    QUEST #1: The Castle

    Summary: You have to locate 3 characters, get their books for hints and story, and a fishing rod to take a sample of a monster puffer fish (Fabio) for the Lab.
    On entering the build, you get a Welcome book. It gives you a hint to go find Berilia. There are two ways to get to her. You can take the bubblevator to her. It is on the 2nd floor of the castle in the SE corner. She is located in the upper floors of the SE corner. It is also possible to take stairs in a round about fashion to get to her.
    Every character will have a gold pressure plate near them. Step on it to get the next hint (you get a book in your inventory).
    The next character to locate is Tarok. He is in the library. That is on the 1st floor in the NE corner of the castle.
    The final character to find is Bushnell. He will give you a book and a fishing rod.
    The TP to the maze and fishing spot are all the way down the stairs under Bushnell.


    QUEST #2: Get the puffer fish sample and take it to the Lab.

    The TP takes you the maze. It has 2 sections. One is a "don't touch the slime blocks", and the second is a swimming maze. You won't drown. If you get lost in the swimming, go by the old standby of "take every left turn". That will get you there eventually.
    The fishing room has a large monster puffer fish in it. You fish there till you catch a puffer fish. It will be named Fabio Jr. It might turn invisible in your inventory (especially if you try to move it or click it in your inventory). So long as you know you caught it, don't worry about that.
    If your rod breaks, there is a button to get a new one on the wall.
    There is an "escape hatch" to leave the Puffer Fish room. It is opposite where you entered (look for the ladder).
    You will be TP'ed to in front of the greenhouse. Go in there and at the back on first floor, you will see the Lab entrance. It says "Staff Only" (iron door with pressure plates). There is a sign telling you where to submit the sample. Jump up onto the gold pressure plates. You should receive a riptide trident. Hold on to this.


    QUEST #3: Logic Puzzle

    To the left of where you submitted the sample is a sign and pressure plate for Lab Notes. Read this carefully. There are 4 scientists (with buttons on your left through the door in the Lab) and you have to use logic and the imgur image to figure out who created the weapon. Or if you like parkour, you could just hit buttons until you get the right answer. A wrong answer just makes you do a parkour and then you have to run back to the Lab from the castle. It's due north of the castle (will be on your left from the main north path).
    To do the logic puzzle, first find the retired tech in the park. The park is NE on the build in the town. He's on the north side of the park. Step on pressure plate to get book and clue. He wants you to bring him some melons. Go to the market (south, in middle of town), get the melon and take it back to him (step on pressure plate again). Now you have to find a shovel to dig up the buried diary. The shovel is in the cemetary which is next to the park (south of it, entrance on east side). Now you have to find the house with the cool porch and the tree next to it (one of the cobweb ones). That tree is south of the cemetary past the market on the east side of main path. There is a gold pressure plate on its roots.
    I am not going to put the answer to the puzzle here. If you are really stuck and hate parkour, ask in chat for someone to please PM you the answer. Once you have the answer, go back to the Lab, through the entry way on the left and press the button that corresponds to your answer. The correct answer will give you the bow.


    QUEST #4: Into the Belly of the Beast

    Once you have the trident and the bow, it's time to jump into the mouth of the giant squid-like monster on the NE side of the build past the park. Climb up a tentacle and hop into its mouth.
    There is only ONE button for an replacement trident and it is at the very start of the course.
    Launch yourself using riptide through the throat of the beast. If you touch a coal block, it will send you back to the start of the course. When launching yourself, you don't want to be touching a honey block. Those act similar to cobwebs and will mess up your throw. Personally I find aiming low works better, but you'll find your own system to it. Hitting another player will also mess up your throw. Try to take turns and stay out of each other's way if you wind up in a group of folks going through the course. Be kind <3
    After you clear the riptide trident course, you must swim through the stomach acid that has poisonous squids. Don't let a squiddy touch you! Your goal is a small glowstone arch at the bottom off to one side.
    The final challenge is to use the bow to shoot the redstone on the far wall. It's a longshot, good luck!
    Once you hit that target which kills the beast, you will be TP'ed to the winners room. Right click for your prize on the sign at the chest, and it will be mailed to you. Go back to your regular SMP and open the mail and your prize there. I just think that is the safest way to make sure you get your prize (it's probably overkill but that never hurt!).
