Today I have implemented a few "rule" changes to adapt to the changes to Minecraft and EMC over the years. Practically, the changes are in the minutia and will not affect the experience of most EMC players. Keep reading to find out more. In no particular order. 1) The Conditionally Approved Mods list has been updated. https://empireminecraft.com/wiki/conditionally-approved-mods/ Policy wise, the policy about not using any mod for an advantage in an event (both server events and player events) is still in affect. "cheating" is punishable. The major changes include... Moving some of the conditional rules up to the top of that page to apply to ALL categories. Permit Fullbright gamma mods and similar. With a note that encourages people to reconsider bypassing vanilla intentional game design <- not that this necessarily controls whether the mod is permitted. Easing back the wording on map mods. To convey that caved/radar mods need to be local - not seeing through walls. I acknowledge that this may not be compatible with how these mods actually work... The major rule is not using anything that is an advantage in events (both server and player) Easing back the restrictions around printer and easy place mods. I encourage you to read the page if you are wanting those details. In general, these changers are to make more lax rules around the single player experience here on EMC. Borderline rule offenses will still receive staff warnings, etc. next up. 2) The Supporter Auction Section has been closed. After largely not being used since 2022 and my changes to the number of auctions open, this section has been vacant of activity. It is long overdue. 3) Tweaked the Auctionable Items page specifically as it relates to "Rare Vanilla Items". https://empireminecraft.com/wiki/auctionable-items/ Added Netherite ingots to the Any quantity category. Add Any Mob Egg to the Any Quantity category. In general. Just because it is Any Quantity. If there is an influx of useless auctions... we will be forced to make the rules stricter again. This is not a challenge to do really annoying things... Please... 4) Villager Moving - Senior Staff Services https://empireminecraft.com/wiki/senior-staff-services/ The whole Senior Staff Services section needs revising to be easier to read and more appropriately priced. The only change made today is related to Villager moving. Previously the price was 10,000 rupees PER villager and must be for the same account. Now, the price is 50,000 rupees per "selection area" defined as a WorldEdit selection which we use to complete this service. As defined by the Senior Staff+ working the service. Additionally, allow a cross-account villager transfer for an additional 50,000 rupees. This service is a genuine pain to complete. So even if you have the funds... Please consider making these requests as infrequently as necessary. Otherwise, I have to increase the price. Note: I do not plan to implement trades being stored in the eggification system at this time. I think that is everything... As always, we can always change the rules at any time... We try not to do it too frequently so everyone can know what the effective rules are... Communication is hard.
Want to make sure I understand these changes as they do seem interesting. I typically use Xaero's fair-play map mod (world map and mini map) which is meant for use with server rules, so I'm not 100% if these things are possible. When I play modded, it's a much different map and I can see mobs on my map, etc. Is this what is being allowed now? Like, I need to find a sheep, I see one on map and head to it. Same for caving. This one is interesting to me because it would help light up areas to prevent mob spawning in area's that you want to prevent damage mobs like endermen from grabbing blocks. Is this what is being allowed now? I just don't know how you set this to local. I assume this means this can all be used at your personal base but if you are just roaming around, it must be off. Is there a setting for this? I downloaded the normal use mod for Xaero and did a quick look at the settings and didn't see anything for local but I'm also not super familiar with it either so maybe someone know how to do this. This is ofcourse if I am understanding these new changes. Now this is something I am very interested in as it can save from constant clicking. I believe there are a few settings to make this compliant with the server. First in the generic settings tab, setting: easyPlaceProtocolVersion = None (This prevents placing blocks like stairs in the right position regarless of where you are facing. This might not be doable on servers by default though). easyPlaceVanillaReach = true easyPlaceSwapInterval = 300 (This is in milliseconds and was just the number I picked to test things, seems reasonable but could be tested more.) The default is zero which is pretty much spray and pray and would definately get you in trouble Now this setting only lowers the speed of placement when you are switching block types in a build. If it's the same block, it will place faster, IDK how much faster it is than normal or if there is another setting to limit that speed. If there was there there should be zero issues using easy place. I don't think the server would allow you to place blocks in thin air anyways, that was my only other concern. As far as printer, I don't use it much as I usually use easy place in SP so I can change blocks I don't want to something else. I'm sure there are settings to slow this down too but I am not familiar enough with those. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please correct me if I am wrong with my interpretations of the new rules.
Before this change ZERO mob radars were allowed. Of any kind. The change was me easing the language to say that if there was a mapping mod that showed entities without "seeing through walls" - that could be okay. I don't think it is possible as I mentioned in my forum post here. The policy was eased back - but someone using it to see things through walls is punishable if used in this way and caught... Thanks for your interpretations. I am not a user of these mods. So what you describe might be fine. I am not going to give a stamp of approval or disapproval either way. I would definitely reach out with a warning if I became aware of some nuance of these changes getting mixed up with a long established player.
I'm looking at journeymap right now, It seems to let you set the vertical and lateral range for mob radar. Looks like the lowest you can set them to is 16 blocks lateral, 8 blocks vertical. Honestly I don't like mob radar anyway and will probably continue to not use.
Ya Xaeros has something similar for depth, like if you set it to 1000 for example, you would see anything in the Y level.
i like these changes. i promise i wont create a bunch of bucket/ single item auctions again. *as long as you remain in charge* lol
also, regarding SS services.. i have previously had residences swapped around accounts without having open residences on said accounts… yet recently (in the last 5 or so years) that was no longer being allowed. can this please be revisited? kindly. thanks!
2) The Supporter Auction Section has been closed. After largely not being used since 2022 and my changes to the number of auctions open, this section has been vacant of activity. It is long overdue. There was a supporter auction section?
Thank you for maintaining the servers well and giving consideration to the features we don't always interact with.
