In case you didn't look at the post JackBiggin made, there are a couple suggested fixes. Mainly that all exit code errors you get can either be solved by either reinstalling Java, or uninstalling D3Dgear. If your friend doesn't know what D3Dgear is, that's probably not the problem. As for reinstalling Java, you can download it here. Just choose the right version for the OS, usually Windows offline 64 bit if he's on a Windows OS.
