I call it the community background because it contains different people, if I could include more than that, I would.
I'm going to say this in the nicest possible way that I can and apologize if it comes off in any other way. I appreciate the effort, but there is a lot that goes into making a logo. A logo is your brand recognition. It should be versatile, as well as clean cut, AND make you stand out in the crowd. To be honest, upon first glance at your proposed logo design, it reminds me of a lot of other servers' logos that I've seen. It's a cookie-cutter design motif used over and over again by other servers to make something more 'toon-like' and while it's very pleasant looking, it's bland because it's the 'norm'. It doesn't represent the unique nature of Empire Minecraft nor allow us to stand out in the sea of Minecraft servers available.
Who said that's a community wallpaper? I understand, it's just the name that bothers me a bit. (Anyways, I'd rather we stop before this turns into a flame thread)
I do not agree with many of your points, I would like to counteract your post and make a little suggestion. 1. This logo looks very vibrant, fun, and just all-around outgoing. The current logo is more bland and doesn't have much character to it. Looking at TopG servers, I see the current logo to be the least appealing logo. Pretend you are new and are looking for a great server. Choose which logo stands out to you: Odds are, you didn't pick us. The only thing that stands out about our logo is the bright yellow colors, and even then the simple letter A has us beat. 2. I do not see any resemblance between this logo and other servers, tbh. The only resemblance it has is the cartoony style and even then, most servers do not look remotely near it. 3. I refer you to point 1 Now for my suggestion: Do you see what most of these top 10 servers have in common? Simplicity. They do not blatantly say their long name in their logo. I suggest that we change the icon from Empire Minecraft to EMC. It is shorter, sweeter, and more widely used.
There's a big difference between logo and icon. That icon hasn't been updated in ages (and yes, it's on my current list along with some other stuff for TopG specifically).
Not really.. Last I checked, an icon is just a smaller version of a logo. For example. This is the google icon: See what I mean? The logo can say Empire Minecraft, while the icon can say EMC. It just has to follow the same design
I was saying a big difference because you are focusing on a different aspect when making an icon compared to a logo. And while discussing logos, he compared icons. The logo says the whole name, whereas the icon doesn't have to. I didn't say I disagreed with that.
Krysyy, just please hear me out. I can't post other server's logos, but if I could, you would see that we do not stand out. Our logo is bland, dull, and plain. (It pains me to say it because I don't know if it hurts your feelings). I do think it is time for a new logo.
I'd say this guy's logo is better than the current EMC one. Also, this logo may resemble other servers, other servers have us beat. We need an upgrade. EMC's logo is so bland... my opinion of course...
To end this tedious discussion: Logo - a symbol or other design adopted by an organization to identify its products, uniform, vehicles, etc. Icon - a symbol or graphic representation on a screen of a program, option, or window, especially one of several for selection. Basically, the Icon is the for server listing and tab picture things and the logo is for everything else. The logo doesn't have to contain the name, but it would be helpful.
Hi Kryssyy, No worries. I was only playing around with it. Also I work at an ad agency, so I know what identity and branding is. When I said I was playing around, I was really just playing around with whatever existing logo. There were no specified colors, look and feel, nor ideas to brainstorm with. Anyways, no intention of over stepping into anyone's business. It was all out of fun and spare time creativity. Btw, there were no shortcuts Each and every single detail was created by the pixel. My opinion on the current logo; Way too bland Simple Blurry on the website Does not appeal to the newer generations Ever looked at the logo on the site for a bit? If you have you'll have noticed the edges are blurred, while if you look at the full resolution of the image the edges are sharp. The overall design is just way too simple and bland, it is most likely not appealing to newer players.
