  2. Really?! -_-;
This is the most substantial statement you could come up with?

  3. No, i specified larger matches. I dont care about your mouse argument, i specified that larger matches are available because of better hardware. That has nothing to do with any mouse or keyboard.

Since you seem to have ignored looking up why the maps and matches are smaller on console, i did it for you.

"If you want the same quality of game, I would say it's really, really hard. We tried to get more players in [to the console version] but then you need to scale down all the graphics, scale down all the destructibility, and sometimes you need to scale down all the map sizes. Everything is a compromise on: where do you cut?"

"Everything is a compromise. It's not that we're evil or stupid. We didn't choose not to have more players - we would love to do 64 players on console but then we would have to cut away so much; people would get very upset that it looked worse, played worse and wasn't as fun as the PC version. We would never do that because the fun is always more important."
  4. Wasn't listed in the article I read, so no I did not ignore it. The particular quote I specified said they very well could do 256 players but that they find having between 32 and 40 players was much more enjoyable. This was specifically specifying why they chose smaller player caps. This does not make it the only statement but it was the link I found.

Now, I will look into this particular article as well.
What I can see from your statement, they would have to scale down everything to fit more people.

However, what you are ignoring from this statement is that they would be scaling down the graphics that they worked so hard to optimize on the console. Yet, some players in PC versions of games have to scale down these settings in the game to be able to play on their own hardware.
The difference is, they have to provide that option for the PC whereas with the console platform the user can not adjust their graphics settings which means that everyone plays at the same settings and so the developers make adjustments elsewhere.

In short, options do not equal superiority. It results in varied experiences and so only the most dedicated and financially well off players can afford to maximize graphics when playing PC games where as the console version runs the highest settings no matter if you play on your console or your friends, the copy of the game will perform the same each time.
  5. Actually, you can download "HD content" for BF3 on consoles, so there is some ability to adjust graphics.
Also, the article you quoted isnt about the console version. Its source is an interview, and on that interview page, it is under the category of PC gaming.
  6. That is not at all adjusting graphics in the way that I was referring to. On your 360 and PS3 you can't go into settings, video and then adjust sliders to use either Maximum or Minimum graphics quality. HD content for 1 game is not at all the same thing as adjusting graphics on a console. You are focusing on BF3 not console gaming..

Yet that interview was about the video game Battlefield 3, not Battlefield 3 for PC only.
The final line in the article is:
"Battlefield 3 is set for a Fall 2011 release on the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC."
Doing a search for PC only brings up links to an ad, the header at the top and that final line in the article.
Not once in the article is PS3, Xbox 360 or PC version stated. It only says Battlefield 3.
  7. Back to the Wii U conversation:
Here is an article from just 12 hours ago...
Wii U Premium Sold out in the US
Seems the Wii U isn't such a failure after all, at least not yet in terms of pre-order sales...
We can revisit this in a year to get full statistics of sales to know for certain how well they do with it. This is very promising, however.

  8. I dont think the Wii U will flop because it is a mixture of a Wii and a 3DS. The best things since sliced bread.

  10. I couldn't care less about new Nintendo consoles, EMC is so much better.

  11. Congratulations on doing your own research. I concede to you on this stupid BF3 argument.
I stand by my statements about PC gaming. The comparisons are vastly different. PC gaming favors micro managing and quick reflexes such as RTS, MMO, RPG and FPS. The console selections favor driving, fighting, action/adventure and platforming games.

Play The Sims on your console, it isn't as intuitive as on the PC. Try out an RTS on the console, it is a struggle. Play Dragon Age on the console and the PC, which is more sensible. Now try Dragon Age 2 on the PC vs. the console. More intuitive on the console.

Prototype, perfect on console, terrible on PC with mouse and keyboard but wonderful with the 360 controller. The options exist because even the game developers know that some game styles just play better with controller over mouse and keyboard and vice versa.
  12. Why cant you all calm down and stop fighting each other and play mimecraft? We all agree on that game.
  13. Well I hope I can get the Wii U as it looks extremely cool, however I am a bit hesitant because I want to wait and see what Nintendo does with it first. As for Twitch and jk's argument: Twitch is right in my opinion. FPS and certain games are better on PC, however most games are going to be better on the console.
  14. I must combat ignorance. :) It is in my nature not to sit by and let fanboyism override intelligent conversation.
In the end the argument went from console discussion to console vs. PC to Battlefield 3... I gave up when it ended at a specific title.
  15. I never said that pc gaming was worse for FPS or anything.
I didnt do my own research, i finished yours. Its too bad you had to change after "stepping down" from being a mod... *sigh* Well, im watching a movie, so im going to end this like i started it. The wii u, and most of their other consoles, are being made for kids, not gamers. Look at my original, long post, and ignore all of the argument between twitch and me.
  16. I can't change your mind about the Nintendo being marketed for kids, so I wont try. I agree to disagree at this point. :)
Enjoy your movie, I am watching Casino right now. Good movie, too bad AMC edited the language...
  17. Im watching the Hunger Games right now with some friends. Not my favorite movie, but it isnt the worst!:)

  18. Mmmhmm.

  19. I'm just going to say, you can connect an Xbox 360 controller to a PC, and then either select using the controller through the options, or download an external application. Because, like Twitch said, control schemes differ for everyone.
  20. No. But it was the most clever. ;)
