  5. When you or someone nearby die it should say you died and how. I think the way Shaun posted is how mods are able to see it in records.

  6. When you die, I think you don't see it.
    But, in terms of other players, you can only see death messages of players within local chat range (100 blocks).
    When chat statuses are turned on.
