  1. Hi, it's me again!

... I suppose that isn't the most logical introduction for an introduction, is it? :p Oh well... I think many of you have seen me before. :)

I am 607, pronounced Six Oh Seven, and Zes Nul Zeven in Dutch. I am 19 years old, I am male but have got quite some femininity in my personality as well. ;)
I am Dutch: from the Netherlands. No, not Holland. The Netherlands. I was born in Nieuwegein, near Utrecht, the center of the Netherlands. At the age of 10, I moved back to Heerenveen, in Frisia, where my parents met. In Summer of 2017, I moved out, to begin studying. I currently live in Amersfoort, back in the province of Utrecht. I haven't actually visited Nieuwegein in years, perhaps I should. :) I wonder how our neighbourhood looks nowadays.

I was raised in a Christian family. Unlike their parents, my parents are baptists: they believe in baptising people only when they ask to themselves, instead of baptising babies shortly after birth. I personally think there's a lot to say for both. :p I have not been baptised, but I might consider it in the future. :)
I have always believed in the stories about Jesus and the Bible I heard, just like some others have believed in Sinterklaas or the American version, Santa Claus. However, it was only at 10 or 11 that I made a conscious decision to try to follow Jesus. At that time I had a lot of tantrums, but even if I was relatively cold-blooded, I'd often hit my siblings if they did something I didn't like. At some point I was in our backyard and suddenly realised that that is not at all like what Jesus would do. Jesus would want the best for his siblings, even if they did something he didn't like.
From that moment onward, I have tried to have my actions lead by love instead of anger. :) Of course I don't always succeed... I am not God, after all. But I have learnt a lot! :D
I am what I would call a radical Christian: my faith is not one of my hobbies or interests. I would like to have all aspects of my life be rooted (radix is Latin for root) in my faith. On EMC, I have also tried to practice this, by being kind in discussions and not judge or irritate people, and yet standing up for important causes, and helping people if I can. :) I think it is rather amazing that I became the first to be Member of the Month because of this. ;)

Oh, before I go on, I think I should tell a bit about my family situation. I am the oldest child of my parents, born in 1999. After me, they had another son, but he died within a day, because his lungs weren't fully developed. :( I did get a sister a year later, and a brother another 3 years later.
My father sadly died in 2015, because his heart stopped, or something. I'm not quite certain about the details, because it frankly doesn't matter to me: I'm not a physician, and the result is clear: he's dead. My mother and sister wanted to have hereditary research done, but it didn't really work out, because the doctors somehow threw away my father's blood sample, because the fridge was occupied.
My father's father died a year after. He had also had heart issues, but he died because of something else. My father's mother is still alive. I see her at least once a month. My father, like me, also had a younger brother and sister (in the different order, though), and those are still alive, and I really enjoy spending time with them. :) My father's sister actually married just a few years ago, and I've now got two little cousin girls. :D

I am autistic. I have been diagnosed with PDD-NOS, but I've also got many aspects of Asperger's. My autism might have made it more difficult to socialise, and to interact with other people in a good manner, but I have always found such good friends that I have learnt an incredible lot. :) I now really enjoy being around other people, and even though IRL you might still easily notice I am autistic if you're experienced with it, I think that during most interactions it really won't bother me.
The main way I am still bothered by it is that everything costs me a lot of energy. I am extravert, but I can't be at big parties for a long time, for example. Some of you might know already, as this is the case for most autists, but I'll explain to you one of the biggest obstacles. When someone says something to you, your mind will have to process it, and you can interpret the message and react to it. That costs a bit of energy, but it's okay. If you're at a party, assuming you aren't autistic, you'll probably only really process the sounds originating from people that are talking to you. Because of this, you can talk to the people close to you and follow conversations if you want to, but you won't really be bothered by the others, as long as they aren't too loud.
My mind has to process everything anyone says around me. At a party, if 8 different people are talking, I'll hear all eight, even if 6 of them aren't even close to me. This is exhausting. Additionally, it makes it difficult to actually listen to the person I'm talking to, as my mind is also processing all of the other sounds.
An interesting side effect of this is that I'm always unintentionally eavesdropping on people. :p I don't like going to restaurants because there are many people there, but when I do, I often pick up on entire conversations from strangers, even if I'm talking to friends. That's as said exhausting, but it can also be funny sometimes. :p

My main interests are computers, music and language.
I enjoy programming, I enjoy gaming, and I even really enjoy just using software. I don't mind when people ask me because they've got a computer problem; I'll usually be able to fix it, and if there's not too much pressure involved it's often even fun. :p
My father used to do a lot with computers as well. I've got some programs on diskettes that he programmed when he was my age. :D I've still got his Atari ST as well, actually. I use it to create art for my chiptunes. :)
So that nicely transitions into my second interest: music. I really like listening to video game music. I listen to a lot of different soundtracks. I'm listening to Yoshi's Woolly World right now, because I wasn't feeling too happy and wanted to. ^.^
I also play piano. I'm rather skilful. :3 I often arrange video game pieces by ear, learn to play them on piano, and if I master them, I'll try to record a video of a performance. :) I don't always get that far (recording the video and editing it is a challenging in its own right...), but I have already got quite a playlist going, as you can see in my thread. :) (the first videos are really old :p)
I also compose music. I've done multiple genres, but I enjoy most to compose chiptune on Atari ST. I fell in love with the chip as a kid when hearing a certain theme (I should upload that to YouTube in high quality some time) from an obscure game I am attached to (Dizzy Prince of the Yolkfolk), and it took a while before I could even start dreaming of being able to compose for the system myself. :D I can now, though. I don't often do it, as I've got many other hobbies, but I have finished an entire soundtrack to a short video game, and 4 stand-alone tunes. I posted the first one in my thread here, and my newer tunes are on the same page. :)
My third interest is language. I really enjoy writing, as you might have been able to tell by the length of my posts... I am very glad that I know 3 languages: English, Dutch and Frisian. I don't speak Frisian fluently, though, and my vocabulary is very low, unfortunately. Even in Frisia, where I've lived for over 7 years, almost everyone knows Dutch as well (there are much more people that don't know Frisian than that don't know Dutch), so I don't need to speak it, but it'd be cool to be able to.
I also know Latin. I can't speak it at all, but I can read it using a dictionary (and that is harder than you might think :p), and I've written Latin before. Latin's such a beautiful language. :D
Next year I am going to be studying Artificial Intelligence at the University of Utrecht, which combines computers, language, psychology and philosophy. I'm not sure about the studying at a university itself, but I think the subject-matter is going to be amazing. ^.^

One thing that cannot be absent from my introduction: Piwi! Here's a picture I took right now: https://i.imgur.com/Qgo0g1y.jpg. I used to have multiple plushes toys as a child, but Piwi is the only one that stayed. I usually take it with me. :) It is strongly attached to EMC, but also to my current and past friends. I hope I'll never lose it!
Every year on May 26th it's Piwi Day. On that day, I change my profile picture on every site to a 'new' (I take them years in advance) picture of Piwi, and host a giveaway on EMC themed around it. It's a very fun tradition. ^.^

That's it for my introduction. I had written quite a part here where I asked about a idea I had, which I wanted to present to you, to hear your thoughts: I've got some custom emoticons I made which I might want to use.
However, when the thread was done, I found out that this does not actually work. :( The problem is that there is a maximum of 20 images per post. And I use a lot of emoticons, so if I'd use custom emoticons, I'd get to 20 way too easily! Don't you think these look fun, though? :D
(the crying ones are animated, but this is a screenshot; I'm not sure if I included all here, I might have forgot one or two - actually, yes, I can already think of one I forgot :p)

Anyway, this was my introduction post! :) Thanks for reading if you did; I'd appreciate it if you would leave a comment. And thanks to haastregt for creating a petition for me to write an introduction post - now it's your turn! ;)
  2. Oh wow! I didn't know most of this stuff about you, that's really neat! :)
I think I'll listen to some of your music! It's great that you started off talking about your faith. I'm a Christian too :D
I'll be waiting for haastregt to make an introduction post now ;)

  3. That was a long introduction, thanks for sharing.
  4. That was lovely and I feel honored to have read it :)
  5. Intersting to read an introduction, but bairly read anything new... Isn't telling stuff people don't know jet kind of the essence of an introduction?
I might do a full one someday aswell... my AMA didn't really go that well, did it?
Well, sure, thanks for the read :) Another few moments of procrastinating things I have to do, thank you :)

  6. This is everything relevant I could tell to introduce myself, though, as far as I know. :p Except some things that are private and/or illegal to share on EMC. And I suppose I could've told about my Rome trip, though, but you probably know about that as well. :p
  7. Heya six-oh,
    Welcome to the Empire!

If you need any help or have questions, just ask! :D

Okay seriously though, that was a great post :D! I am glad that the petition worked, with a stunning 1 whole signature :p!
After all this time I have seen you around here and have spoken to you, I knew most of those things about you but it was still a good read with some little things that I did actually not know yet :).

*sigh* I guess I get my pen and paper ready now, though ;) (or more like, a keyboard)

EDIT: Forgot to mention, but I have two people in my class who are going to study artificial technologie in Utrecht too, next year!
  8. We should just start something where players that have been here but haven't made an introduction thread create one and then "tag" another player to make one lol (all optional of course). :)
  9. Yes, but unfortunately we can't check who has made one and who hasn't because of that bug. :/

  10. mhm... Some people, I anyway, aren't scilence about their lives becuase they don't want to tell it or all that. I actually made a few versions, but it's kind of dificult to tell my life without getting emc-inaproprite. I don't think I'm the only one...

  11. Now I am a bit curious, I wonder if I'll hear more on this later. :p

  12. I didn't know about this, you are low-key a really dope person. (You're really cool) You have so much that makes up you... I mean... Just wow. Great post. I did read it all. You've had a lot of struggles in your family with all of your deaths... That's so tough... Wow.

OH WAIT IS THAT PIWI IN YOUR PROFILE PIC OHHH...

  13. Thanks. :)
How have you missed both Piwi Day 2016 and 2017, if you joined in 2015? :p

  14. I really only joined the forums in December. :D

  15. I made one when I was 2 months into playing on EMC. A lot's changed so I'm considering making a second one. Probably won't, though :)

  17. Yes. God (in my interpretation, at least) knows all, so if I would be God I'd know it. ;)
  18. Thanks for sharing 607!

  19. Thanks for sharing, 607! :D

Now I feel inspired to put together an introduction thread of my own, hehe...
And definitely something more than a "Hey everyone I finally joined the forums after 900 days of being on EMC" type thing :p
  20. Go for it! :D
