I have a homecoming at my school. My strategy is always to just go up to whoever you are going with and tell her you think she's hot. It's the only way. THE ONLY WAY...And there is always the "understanding women" book... But you may finish reading it a tad late. I am in the marching band this year so I have to march while holding a heavy brass alloy baritone horn (the overweight trumpet) in front of me for five or six miles while wearing a cheesy uniform... Anyways, I will not be able to ask anyone to the homecoming dance this year
Just act as you always would, be nice, tell her compliments, have confidence, just because you may not be good asking girls doesn't mean that you won't succeed. If you go in and think you're going to get shot down doesn't mean that you will, most girls actually want a person to ask her to homecoming. Just be calm, cool and ask with confidence. And even if she says no don't make it seem like it's the end of the world, there's plenty of other girls to ask. This may sound stupid but hey, just don't act like she's going to say no instantly, she might just say yes.
It's kinda funny how you guys make this a very big deal. It may seem like it now, but later on all it is, is going to be a memory. So just take the risk and try to create a memory for your future self. You don't need to know her that well. Just do something corny or bold. Flowers are a good way to go (Even the cheapest). Look online if you can't think of anything. But just take the risk

Worst case scenario: She goes crazy and tells everyone you've ever known that you're a creep and a serial killer then she burns down your house and holds all your pets hostage after kidnapping them and forcing them to watch her eat their cat/dog food while chasing a red light. Then she slowly moves everything in your new house around for months driving you even more crazy which eventually leads to you moving to a country where socialism is accepted and the dictator refuses to let anyone wear the color's red, white, and blue at the same time. Best case scenario: She says yes and at the dance party she tells you shes actually a corporate spy from the future. She tells you all of Apples and Microsoft's big deals and new products coming up giving you time to copy right everything leading to you suing the companies and making billions of dollars which you use to travel to expensive places and meet a girl who is k00l and haz all teh $w@g. But you still have feelings for spy girl. Wat do. You tell her theres another in your life, she says who, you tell her the story about how you became rich, she says she was the spy girl this whole time! At that moment your eyes water from happiness, life could not get any better, or so you thought... She says she has another confession for you. You nervously ask what it is. She pulls her face off. I too am also naturally shy. However, I like to push my limits and see what I can make myself do, pretty much self-pressure. So last year I just got dressed up, went out and bought flowers, and just walked up to her and asked her to homecoming. Although it doesn't sound like it, it really was as simple as that. She said yes, and homecoming went great. Although it sounds cliche, not that many people actually ask out using flowers anymore, and I really liked it just because it really helped me become less shy. Besides this I have asked two other girls, and while they have said yes, the asking part didn't really go over too well haha. Good luck! If she say yes, actually coordinate with her. Normally you will plan to wear a tie matching her dress color. ABSOLUTELY MAKE SURE THAT YOU ARE AS DRESSED UP AS OTHER GUYS, IT WILL BE VERY AWKWARD IF YOU ARE IN A POLO SHIRT WHILE OTHER GUYS ARE IN SUITS! You can also try to get a group of friends going, as it's always much more fun. On the day of the dance, pick her up, and drive somewhere for photos. In most cases, your group wilkalso plan to go out and eat before or after the dance. When you are actually at the dance, actually dance with her, girls hate it if you go through the work of asking them and then you hide. On the slow dances, don't run and hide in the bathroom and hide from her, slow dances are fun. Just grab her hand and walk her over to a clear area, and you will put your hands on her hips while she puts her arms your shoulders. If she says no, don't take it too harshly. Girls already make a lot of plans before you even start thinking about homecoming, so they might not be able to attend, be going with someone else, or might just want to go with a group of girls. There are a million reasons why they might say no, so don't instantly get really mad. If you get rejected, you can still go with a group of friends and still have a great time. So it's better to go at all without a date than to sit around at home on EMC. Also: As a huge tip, really focus on her body signs, and do not do anything that will ruin the night. I've had two friends that went in for a kiss on the last slow song, and they got outright rejected. So, if you ask a girl to go as friends, and as long as she doesn't already have feelings for you, do not try to kiss them, as they expected from you asking them to just go as friends. If you do want to kiss, check her dancing during the slow song, if she is up close against you without you pulling her in, then you have a better chance, but if she is definitely keeping room, then I would suggest to not go for it. Overall, just have a good time, and actually go,it's a huge part of the high school experience.

I know this is just a joke, but I do not want this idea going into anyones head. Being mean to a girl is not a way to get a date. Being nice is a good quality, but normally rude guys have a bit more self confidence. Having confidence to take the first step is important, but if you are an asshole it will not get you far into a relationship. Also, there is no such things as too ugly or too weird to too nice. Ugly is subjective, so I am sure there are some people who think Jennifer Lawrence is ugly and find Justin Bieber beautiful. Everyone is also really weird, and some people just do not show it that much, but we are all incredibly weird deep down. The only people who are truly weird are people who are not weird. Also, niceness is something you cannot get enough of. Always aim to be as nice as possible
