I tried going to the event and couldn't figure out if it was still active. It didn't appear to be active to me. Maybe I just don't get it?

Event is still active. Just go to /games and walk through the giant skull. There's a couple of things to gather inside with the clues given (a bow given by solving the scientist puzzle + the trident gotten by fishing a pufferfish) in order to do the trident course and get Zhannen's Trident. Tip for the bow puzzle: just guess. There are only four answers to give, and getting out of gay baby jail is not hard- just go back to /games and return to Zahnenn. Then enter the squid, git gud at riptide, and take your reward.
