  2. Preface

After the defeat of Calamity Ganon, Link and Zelda roamed the vast kingdom of Hyrule. Amidst their travels, they come across some decrepit Sheikah tech hidden deep in the Faron region. Months pass by and then years before both of them could get the technology working. Little did they know that it would take them to a different dimension with no easy way to get back home.

  3. Chapter One - Arrival

Unbeknownst to the citizens of Willow Creek, their population grew by two with the arrival of bright, blue swirling lights materializing out of nowhere. Then the lights swirled out of existence just as fast as they appeared leaving behind two bewildered Hylians. Link gasped as he took in his new surroundings and pulled both Zelda and himself behind the dense cover of nearby bushes and trees. Unprepared for such a reaction from him she easily crumpled down to the ground next to him.

“What's going on?” Zelda cried out.

“Shhh, we're not in Hyrule anymore!” whispered Link as he peeked through the bushes. From his vantage point the only thing he could see was the back of a wooden bench and a paved path beyond that.

“I do have eyes you know. Now come on. We need to set up camp and figure out how we're going to get ourselves back home,” Zelda said as she grabbed Link's hand and dragged him out of the bushes.

“I could try teleporting us,” suggested Link as he reached for the Sheikah slate at his hip. Only then did he noticed that it had changed. The slate was now grey, smaller, had no handle and the intricate Sheikah designs were gone. “or not?”

“How strange. I wonder what else has changed,” said Zelda.

The two Hylians found out that Link's money pouch full of rupees had somehow changed into the currency for the strange world they found themselves in. Using the strange currency, Link and Zelda managed to set up most of the basic living necessities. Except for a toilet.

“If we want a toilet and roof over our heads we're going to have to find a way of making more money,” Link said as he finished counting their leftover coins and swept them back into his rupee pouch.

“I very much doubt that our usual method of slaying monsters and selling their parts would work in this world,” Zelda replied.

“We will have to search for actual jobs then,” Link sighed.

Zelda moved in closer to deliver a kiss to Link's jawline, “Hopefully both of us will be able to find something just as adventurous.”

  8. Chapter Two - Research

The next day they found themselves exploring the rest of the town. In the midsts of their exploration, they came across a small two story Victorian building with a wrap around porch tucked away at the very end of a street.

“Do you think they would have anything that could help us get back home?” asked Link.

“It wouldn’t hurt to try. We could also research more about this world as well,” replied Zelda.

    “And jobs too,” added Link.

Inside they were greeted with vast wooden shelves filled to the brim with books. In the middle of the room there was a grand wooden staircase that led to an upper floor with even more shelves full of reading and research materials.

“Impressive! But the one back home is so much more larger,” said Zelda.

While admiring the expansive interior of the library, they failed to notice that they caught the attention of a library staff member. The young woman looked to be in her mid twenties and dressed in casual business attire. Pinned to her top was a small rectangle badge with the name “Amy” printed on it.

“Sir? Madam? Do you need any assistance?” Amy asked.

Zelda noticed that the young woman was directing her question to them, “Um, yes. We are new in town and are wondering if you know of any job openings?”

“We don’t have any openings here at the library at the moment, but you can try looking some up at one of the many computers we have here,” Amy answered as she pointed to one of the nearby tables. On the table were two strange black squared objects with two smaller black objects in front of it.

Zelda and Link turned to look at each other with confusion, “Computers?!”

After learning the basics about computers and the internet from Amy, they both spent some time looking at many of the jobs openings that were available in town. Not having the needed education or experience for most of the jobs, the two Hylians had slim pickings to choose from. However despite the limited choices they both were still hopeful that they would be able to get a job. Once they were finished applying for jobs, they started to research about the world that they knew nothing about.

    “How fascinating!”

“You’re saying it again,” Link said not looking up. He was slowly flipping through pages of the book he was reading.

“Oh, I’m sorry Link. It’s just… here is a world with drastically different governmental systems, histories, and scientific technological advances. Reading about all of this is quite overwhelming really. Even more so when we’re stuck in said world. What if we can’t find a way back?”

Link scooted his chair closer to her and leaned in, wrapping his arms around her. He felt her nuzzle into his embrace as he said, “It’ll be alright.”

“How can you be so sure?”

    “Because I’m your royal knight.”

The sun had finally set and the first stars to appear twinkled brightly overhead. Link and Zelda were ushered out of the library with their arms full of books. It took them some time but they made it back to their current living arrangements. They stashed the books underneath the bed to keep them away from the elements. Afterwards they got ready to turn in for the night.

“I’m going to bed. Coming?”asked Link as he climbed into bed and held the comforter open for Zelda.

“Not yet,” replied Zelda as she sat down at the table and started to tinker with the changed Sheikah slate.

Link rolled over and settled down, “Hmm, ok.”
