Usually when I host A.B.C.D I like to switch it up and vary it between SMPs, essentially cos not all players follow the layer by layer ruling and instead use the buffs to explore the surrounding area... so to do a dig next to a previous hole would be a lot of stone and not so many shiny things (And some people only come for the shiny things! :( ).
