    What is your favorite product you bought that you "bit the bullet" on (i.e. you weren't sure the product would be any good when buying it but decided to just do it- and found out it is now a favorite product of yours)? It can be a food item or any random product you bought in store or online.

  7. My scanner (Scansnap ix500). It was expensive and I heard a lot of really good things about it, but there was a lot of concern about capacity on my end as well as the software that came with it; reviews compared it to antiquated 1990s software. While debating I started a job and found that exact scanner waiting for me at work. So I tried it out with the software and found the complaints didn't match up to my experience.

    It was still a risk because I didn't know how friendly it was to what I was wanting to do with it, but I YOLOed and got it anyway. One of the best purchases I've ever made and it's used multiple times a week. Not sure I could go with any other scanner tbh.

    I got a i7 desktop built back in 2010 that's still kicking. Currently planning on turning it into a media server and will probably start working on it this weekend. :)

  9. Did you know this????

    Pineapple is the only known source in nature of the enzyme Bromelain. Bromelain actually digest proteins… so when you eat pineapple. It's essentially eating you back! But don't worry, once you swallow the pineapple the acids in your stomach destroy the enzymes.

  13. Logistics alert: I was down from the 21st through pretty much this last Friday due to illness. So if you were wondering why my activity/question answering tanked....that's why. Probably one of the worst head/chest colds I had in a long long time.

    To allow for additional entries I'll wrap this thread up on Friday and do the drawing over the weekend. Winner will be announced here. Will also be bumping as legally permissible. Now back to your interrogations of me!

    Millionaire (assuming only $1 million): Pay off outstanding student loans, set 250k aside for law school, invest 60% of remainder and keep leftovers in bank account. Also going on vacation with some too :D

    Billionaire: Same as millionaire, but in larger proportions as applicable and will pay off debts of family/sibling and some close friends. Will donate a lot to charity as well.

    The elf in me is magical and thus immune to such shanagains, so no. :)

    Currently job hunting due to unemployment :(

    Random username generator on xbox live with a 0 at the end. Aikar/staff talked me into removing the 0 post-staff promotion and honestly I think it looks better. :)

  15. Law school is basically what you have to go to to become a a credential lawyer. It essentially makes you eligible for the bar exam in almost all US jurisdictions, pass the bar exam and you can legally practice law in the jurisdiction you pass the bar exam in. Now it's not the only way to get there for 4 jurisdictions - can apprentice under a practicing attorney for x amount of time and take the exam after that - but it's the way the majority do it.

    It's also not that expensive insofar as law school tuition/fees are concerned) Top-14 can run 60k+/year regardless of out-of-state/in-state status. The others can run 30-50 depending on whether you're in state and how cheap it is. Sometimes its less but you have to be careful to play the balancing game as oftentimes you get what you pay for if you try to go super cheap.

    250k is a major overkill. It would basically be designed to not only go to school but to live comfortably off of for three years without having to scrape the bottom of the barrel every month. Also would cover most emergencies if needed.
