8gb vs 16gb

  1. note that if you are running out of memory, then RAM WILL have a big impact to loading -- if the game is trying to load more resources than it can fit in memory, and it starts SWAP'ing, then that does have massive performance issues.

running out of RAM is a quick way to turn your 600$ video card into a 50$ video card by bottlenecking it.

But yes, once you have enough ram, then adding more does not help.
Justiceinacan, Hrghorhg and xHaro_Der like this.
  2. What I'd do is for games that you see long loading times in, open task manager to the resources tab, go to the game and load a map, then alt + tab out and see if your RAM is at full usage. If less than 200mb remains free, more RAM will improve your times significantly since it would be the bottleneck.
  3. I usually do have lots of tabs open in chrome the ram Eater, and I do a lot of programming things with lots of different applications open so I think it'll help, also a lot of games now days are coming out needing more and more ram so I think it's worth it
Plus it's only 73 dollars and free one day shipping :p
