Batman has been around for seven years. Each Robin (other than Damian, of course) was taken on when they were older teenagers. Barbara and Dick were trained at the same time (although, Batman did have Dick before Barbara).
Each didn't serve very long; Dick was under Batman for a year as his communication center and then Robin for a year, Jason was probably on for less than a year, Tim was on for probably a year to a year-and-a-half, and Damian has probably been on for a year to a year-and-a-half, also. The rest of the time was downtime between Robins.
Also, Harper Row is going to be the next Robin. I am not very happy about that. I liked Damian, a lot. Do we really need another Robin? Batman has Nightwing and Red Robin, I don't see the need for another. It just seems that DC has decided Batman needs another Robin, even if it means a fifth Robin.
Oh, it was 7? My bad.
It seemed a bit rushed to me, given the skills they all have.
And DC already decidecd the new Robin?! I agree, Red Robin and Nightwing are good enough.
Although, I don't think Scott Snyder will add her as Robin until after the Zero Year story arc. Someone might try to add her during that or Snyder might try in the few issues before that; but I think that would be to rushed.
