You can change the fan curve using MSI Afterburner (even if it's not an MSI card) (google it), but do watch the temperatures, as it shouldn't get to hot. How hot it can/should be depends on the card, also try googling that. :P

Yeah, my sister pointed out that it was strange that the fan was blowing loudly while it wasn't connected. Maybe when it does get connected, the fan will be off most of the time! We haven't got the right cable, though. The monitor is quite old and doesn't have HDMI in, and the converters we got weren't working.

Oh, that explains your issue. Yes, if it doesn't have a momitor output, it migjt run the fans at 100% speed. :P

Then again, she might be mistaken, as she also believed that she couldn't use mobile data at all, as she uses prepaid, and for some reason she thought that you can't access the internet on prepaid.

That's partially true. Unless you download the section of map you're in on Google Maps, you do need to use mobile data/wi-fi to see where you are.

Rainbow Road is easy when you get more experienced with the game! Bowser Castle 3 and Donut Plains 3 are the really hard tracks.

How'd you do? ELI5 as I don't know tiers with this competitive scene.

Much better than expected; I placed above all other newbs, and even ended above one more experienced player (I didn't play against him directly, though; I think he would have beat me if I had).
I'll probably go again next year, and start practising a few weeks before. I'm not intending to play the game all the time.

Ah yes, I can relate. It’s nice to spend time with distant family, even though it doesn’t last long enough.

They actually visit my grandmother a few times a year, who lives very close to my mother, so I actually see them fairly regularly. It's a very different experience spending time with them when they're sleeping over at our grandmother's than when they're home!
