Then I wonder whether I should just take the GPU out of our desktop pc. My brother uses it for gaming, and the GPU in it is so old and entry-level that it decreases the desktop's performance.
A friend of my brother got him a GPU, as he got a new one. However, something I had not considered is that GPUs have fans that are blowing by default. At least this one does. And I don't know if I can accept that. When I was a kid, we would always have fans blowing as long as the pc was on, but I'd rather not go back to that, it is quite tiring.
You can change the fan curve using MSI Afterburner (even if it's not an MSI card) (google it), but do watch the temperatures, as it shouldn't get to hot. How hot it can/should be depends on the card, also try googling that. :P
Yeah, my sister pointed out that it was strange that the fan was blowing loudly while it wasn't connected. Maybe when it does get connected, the fan will be off most of the time! We haven't got the right cable, though. The monitor is quite old and doesn't have HDMI in, and the converters we got weren't working.
