as there is no other way, I still find it interesting how relatively easily I use it without thinking about it.
The way we (= humans) type is quite interesting, actually. It's amazing how many different habits people might follow (un)consciously, some beneficial and some detrimental. I think it's really interesting! :)
As for the left shift key: I also use it pretty much exclusively with my ring finger. My pinkies are left out almost completely, probably because they seem too weak to press down properly. :P
Ah, that explains a lot! I've always (excluding when using some keyboards somewhere I'm not often) had the luxury of having keyboards with full left shift keys. :) So much so that keyboards with that \ key have become nearly unusable for me. :P
