There are a few reasons for this, a. EMC not set up for 1.13... yet, players getting bored of the game. EMC not offering things like skyblock, factions, towny or hunger games. I guess keeping EMC vanilla survival has its cost, and yet I have never found another server as good as EMC.
I completely agree - not having an alternative to survival is pretty devastating - more/quicker updates would be great as well, but finding active volunteers is difficult...
I think I would also cut out like 5 of the smps to consolidate the players we DO have - would look at lot better to new players if they saw a decent number of players on. I would perhaps even think about rebranding EMC - make it look more, idk flashy or something lol
Woah, Eviltoade, these are some controversial opinions you're sharing here. P
Anyway: I don't get how something like skyblock or factions could help. These have been around for almost as long as EMC. Aren't 'players' bored of them as well? EMC is actually a very unique and refreshing experience.
Not a criticism I know you guys work your socks off keeping things running at EMC that's why I am still here. I get a little nostalgic now and then that's all. I live in the UK so I guess I see the number drop due to that. As for the 250 + number, I am going back several years. I like you point Ev-T, on the server thing, difficult with players dropping in and out all the time.
Even a fresh start, wiping the board clean and new town, wild etc would impact the server number unless everyone was on board with it and I can't see that ever happening. Still only thoughts nothing more. Appreciate all the comments though from you guys
I also agree with 607, on EMC - Skyblock is still very popular, it has changed a lot from the original setup though. I know it would also only add more work for the team, my thoughts/ideas are more towards increasing numbers, I think Mojang did a lot of damage to the server side of the game before it went to MS, and MS is only interested in themselves.
IT's more to do with the fact Minecraft is dying, less people interested in playing MC = less people joining servers. People always rotate out, but if there's less new people replacing them, then activity slows.
Idea: how about sort of grouping the chats and TAB player list of smp1-3, 4-6, and 7-9 together? This creates "fuller" servers, and groups more players together so there is more possibility to chat. :)
I do however notice it myself too, the forums as well are sometimes awfully quiet. I know they were quiet a year and two years ago too, but I feel like it's noticeably quieter again, unfortunately.
Eh, activity will decrease in almost any online community after a certain point, I think. And it doesn't need to take a decade before that happens. Especially when it's been this high. EMC was really quite a big phenomenon. So was Minecraft.
