I am indeed talking about the previous launcher. It's still actively being used on Unix-like environments by the way; if it was so bad then I'm sure they'd have canned that version too.

First: why would you want to use it? ;) Anyway, my suggestion:

Grab the Linux version of the game, set up a Linux environment (using a virtual PC like VirtualBox can help), install it. Then copy the launcher.jar over to your Windows environment. Done.

Ahh, thanks, that sounds smart. I might do it, but the effort sounds a bit too much for the few times I use the regular launcher.

The reason I'd want it is that I very much dislike the new launcher, and the old one got rudely taken away from me, so I'd like to get it back. :P I now normally use MultiMC though, but if I need to access MagnusMercrator or some other accounts I still use the regular launcher.

What's wrong with the new launcher?
Also, I thought by 'before it became fancy' you meant the pre-1.6 one, but now I get what you meant by 'fancy'. :P

Oh of course, if I could go back to that one, it'd be even better. :D

I generally don't like the new and "improved" looks of basically anything today, so yeah. And it's also kinda annoying to switch accounts a lot with this newest one.
