  1. Well, when you claimed the res, it never was stated that the map wouldn't increase in size. In fact, it has been stated on the forums before that there were plans to expand the maps. I also don't think that many people actually do anything different with a corner res vs a normal one.

No one should get a free move, because it would be unfair to the rest of the players who have always wanted to move residences for one reason or another. That, or give everyone the option for a free move (it won't happen).

  2. This is a very good point. I have a corner edge lot, that I spent a long time in search of.

  3. I don't think you would be saying this if this was effecting the people at the center of the map, who chose those lots specifically because they were near spawn. People spend time looking for specific things when finding a plot, location, res number, biome. It really isn't a good idea for these t hings to just change, when players choose the location for these exact specific reasons.
  4. I think this is great, I also think that it would be awesome to add some form of decor around the outer ring of res' just to add a little character to the whole town.

  5. Actually I would think the same, it would just encourage economic activity as those people scramble to get their spawn residences back. I am for a temporary discount of moving residences for everyone, but I am against giving specific people free moves.

  6. I very seriously hope you guys reconsider this, and find a solution that isn't screwing over tons of people, so that more people can log on claim a res and spend 5 minutes before never showing up again. There are hundreds of residences out there that are nothing more than information signs, or dirt huts of a player that hasn't been online since first log on. -_-
  7. I would expect to see this done 1-2 more times before the Town Improvements expansion is added if we continue on our current path. We really are growing like crazy. So don't get too settled on your new spot yet :) 1 ring will only cover us so long. Adding more than is needed increases the load early on, so one ring at a time is smart.
  8. Wait, so when they appear, I'm not allowed to run around Town yelling "Witchcraft!"?
  9. There go my plans for the summer.

  10. Why not just add more smp servers?
  11. You know like add an smp10, smp11, smp12, ect.
  12. That would require buying more physical servers. Not sure if that capacity exists at this time.

  13. Correct; to run more servers costs more money, and I don't think that's something the Empire can afford right now, plus, it's much more simple to add more residences per smp than to make new smps. :)
  14. so where exactly are more plots being added in at? reason i ask is because of things i have been working on XD

  15. Is this really necessary? I mean, sure, there aren't very many open plots at any given time, but that's not the way to figure out whether we need more residences or not. From what I've seen, a) only a fraction of residences on each server are owned by active members (people who get on regularly every 5-10 days for long periods of time to do more than just hold onto a res), meaning b) there's a lot of turnover with players going derelict and new players getting bored, so there's always an open lot.

Maybe this is just my experience on smp2, but I think it'd be more important to try and get people to stay and build on their lots than just bring in more.
  16. One thing I would love to see.. as shamefully 'un-community' as it seems, is to turn the view of your neighbors plot off somehow. I spent a long time finding a plots that didn't have a *ahem* less than desirable view from. I ended up settling for edge residences and facing the entire build out of town. Now I'm a little bummed that I've invested something like 300K in staff service to the res's and Ill be facing a mystery from day to day. I wouldn't be too bothered having to pick up and move to the edge, If I could keep my biome changes, dig outs ect and do it easily, but I dont think i have the stomache for what all that will entail.

  17. hmm i've always thought about this and how good an idea it'd be but then always thought it couldn't happen without changing all the res numbers but idk
  18. There's already an unneeded amount of SMPs.

When they were added, the community was huge, and we needed them. Now, the community is a lot smaller and the community is more thinly spread out - a new SMP would make this worse.

Also: not that I'm against expanding town, but can't the staff remove the residences belonging to derelict players first before trying this? I know there's plenty of them sprawled about everywhere, belonging to players that have long been gone. They are literally everywhere I go.
