  1. Personally I don't think EMC has much to worry about. This isn't what most people would consider a "pay to win" server. From what I've been reading, those are the servers Mojang is targeting with the new EULA.

I think the way to go would be to offer perks to supporter but also make those same perks available via the token system. As long as you made the token system fair there shouldn't be any problems.

Mojang isn't going to sue every server who isn't following the EULA to the letter. It would cost them a fortune! Not to mention the negative feedback they'd get from their players. Can you imagine?

I'm not a laywer but I'm about 99% sure that legally, before they sued a sever, they'd have to issue a cease and desist order. Like I said, I seriously doubt that they have any intention of going around suing people. That would be a disaster for them.

Again, we're not a pay to win server so just set the token/supporter system up fairly, and I'm sure you won't have any problems.
  2. I don't think the plan is to sue any server, but just cut off client access so they can't be used. The problem with this is you can't legally fight it as they have every right to block servers from their game :(
  3. Things i read here feel simmilair with soem other virtual world where it have happend a few times that thing got shaked. some people left. others stayed. at the end the world is still there. Its just important to find the right changes.
  4. Well, their definition of "pay to win" is much much broader than what most people would classify as "pay to win". In their eyes, if you pay money and get ANYTHING that isn't simply something to LOOK at, it's "pay to win". Even in situations where you can earn it in game, but pay to get it faster, is considered "pay to win" to Mojang.

  5. Yeah but the million doallar question is, how strictly will they be enforcing it? Are they gonna be complete A-holes about it? This is just my opinion but I'd be willing to bet that they're going to be pretty lose with it. They've taken a huge hit in the realm of public opinion. That last thing any game company wants is to turn they're player base against them. I think they know this.

This is all going to come down to enforcement. How strictly are they going to enforce it? After all that's happened so far, I bet they'll be more than happy to just let everything blow over. After a time they may go after the worse offenders, but even that is questionable.

Aikar should maybe tweek some things with the token system but if I was him, I'd wait for a cease and desist before I did anything drastic. I'd have a backup plan in place just in case but I think everyone should wait and see what Mojang's gonna do before they all start running around yelling that the sky is falling. They'll go after the big servers way before the smaller servers so there should be plenty of warning in case he needs to do something more drastic.
  6. On the counter of that argument, if Mojang did want to be strict with it, would EMC or any other server want to risk losing everything on the chance that they might slip past the system? Not my call for this place anymore, but I'd make the decision that keeps the community safe with no risk factor involved.

  7. Yeah I understand what you're saying and like I said, it's all going to depend on Mojang. From what I understand, they could have been enforcing this all along. Does the new EULA really mean that they're going to start know? Also, to what extent will they be enforcing it? They'll also go for the biggest offenders first. I just think it's better to wait and see rather than have a knee jerk reaction to a threat that might not even exist.
  8. Fun fact if you think about it: They can't. Compare the "action taken" with "biggest offenders" and something should be strange.
  9. Mojang has been very clear that starting August 1st they mean to start enforcing it. They also have been clear to spell out exactly what donations are allowed and what perks are allowed. If you read this post from the beginning, you will see that this has all been discussed, ranted over, analyzed, and debated.

Once you are shut off, you are shut off, I doubt you could get going again. Kind of hard to ignore the risk. I think EMC is going to have to follow the EULA to the letter because there will be too much risk otherwise. All it takes is one disgruntled banned player to complain to Mojang and they could decide to shut EMC down, very easily.

Unfortunately, we are all going to have to adjust to the new rules and find a way to live with them. If players want to keep playing on EMC, enough players will have to be willing to really donate to the game, without expecting any game affecting perks in return.

  11. Honestly, this could be GOOD for emc... If there are fewer major mini game servers, more people will quit the game or come to servers like this, it will lower the competition.
  12. mojang should fix this before dealing with this eula thing..............................................

  13. When mc realizes they screwed up. They will most likely fix they're error by bringing it back.
  14. I wonder how long before we'll have armor skins? It's really easy to customize you Minecraft skin but when we put our armor on, we all look the same. I'm not talking about custom armor. Skins that you buy and can place on any armor you own. They do it in other games, why not Minecraft? I really want a Viking helmet! ;) If server operators can only sell cosmetic items, skins would be a great way for them to make money.

  15. And just incase it isn't clear - We do have plans already drafted to comply with the EULA discussed as staff - but waiting a bit before announcing it until we get a little bit more information.

I see nothing broken here :p unless you mean steve head which i believe they fixed in 1.8

  16. Wow! That is a really great idea!
  17. To me, 1.8 is "The (we're sorry for screwing you guys over) Ocean Update"

  18. What I don't get is why mojang hasn't enforced the Eula Sooner they've been out for years and they don't even bother about it until now
  19. Correction added lol

  20. Someone asked them on twitter recently whether selling donator ranks was allowed, and they said that they have never been. This may have prompted them, or the fact that the community went crazy at the tweet and took it as a change gave them the idea to do so.
