  1. Yes, same reason. Facebox is on my private blacklist., and twitter is never been usefull to get.
  2. So our main local news channel the BBC featured an item today on Minecraft being used in schools as a teaching / learning tool, I will post the link but some of you may not be able to view. The gist of it is that MC is being used in schools and it seems to be a big thing happening here in Europe. Mojang have a reputation that is growing as millions of ppl join the mc game world. When something like this gets as popular as it does the changes are bound to happen.

Parents of children would be notified about their children playing games like mc as part of their education and be kept up to date with how it has improved their children's education. The game will then come in to the home and the parents will see exactly how things work in the sense of servers and the cost of supporting them. This is what I believe has pushed Mojang to introduce the new measures. There not saying you can't support they are just say you can't do it this way. I think this is why mojang is / have made the changes to their user policies with EULA.

While I do agree this changes the dynamics of how we play on emc / other servers in how the server gets supported, I believe that emc can only come out on top in comparison to most other servers.

  3. wait if i understood right, if i have a res on utopia i still have access to utopia town?
  4. Yes storm boy, I believe so.
  5. This is one of the things they specifically said wasn't allowed.

  6. Which one?
  7. Servers can't give extra residences/land/etc. to supporters.

  8. They did say that you can give things (disregarding currency) to supporters as long as it is achievable in game for a free player. I think that you should have the token system do the job for that, it costs maybe 2500 tokens to get an extra residence, where everyone's maximum is five, but supporters get the number they currently have by default, (gold 2, diamond 4). They can still expand upon this using tokens.
  9. But supporter vouchers are achievable in game D:
  10. Not
    Not without someone else donating.
  11. Bam, sell them for 1 million rupees.
  12. I know this sucks, but from the Q & A

If all players get access to a feature such as a plot of land, can I sell access to multiple plots for hard currency?
No – that would be a gameplay affecting change, so it’s not allowed. All player who access your server must have the same gameplay features offered to them. The same rule applies to items, such as potions.
  13. This is correct. However, you can still offer these if they are achievable in game. All you have to do is add it to the token system.

  14. This is why I am not a lawyer, thanks!
  15. That's more of a 'fix' they're offering to let you make up for PAST sales, but it won't fly for the future, otherwise the pay to win servers could keep doing what they're doing and nobody would have an issue with the EULA.

(ie. Pay for epic armor and it's okay because we set a ridiculous price for it like 1 million (currency)).
  16. I feel like a majority of these proposed fixes are sketchy ones at best. I do like the new site terms and conditions about not being a part of Mojang :p
  17. While kind of funny, it sadly wouldn't hold up that great to be honest. If anything it would make EMC more of a target as it would show they're 'hiding' something and could cause Mojang to want to shut down the servers to prove a point. Not something I would do personally, but if Aikar feels confident in it, it's his site.
  18. I imagine it is more of a temporary thing to buy time while a less sketchy fix is found.
  19. Personally I'm happy to pay just for the benefit of supporting the servers, I'm not supporting for in-game rewards but because I spend so much time here, and I can afford to. It would be exploitative not to contribute. I have chosen how much i can afford to pay per month and would continue with gold status regardless of 'perks'.
  20. Reading all this, and what happens on other servers, makes me realise just how lucky I was stumbling on EMC a couple of years ago. Whatever the long term solution is, I believe we'll be ok. This server was never about extracting as much money as possible from gullible game addicts. It's going to be an upset, but I think there's nothing here that Aikar and team can't get their heads around, because the primary aim of EMC is to be the best there is, not to make huge profits. I really hope we can find a model that allows us to continue to pay for the servers and reward the developers for their time. Whatever it is, I'm in.
