Community Brainstorming Session 101

  1. We tried but the calendar module doesnt work for our version of the forums.
  2. This was talked about and planned for along time. I am pretty sure Aikar implemented it.. and something broke... Its definitely something they want to add though, the staff even have a 'make shift' calendar they use for the time being to try and not overlap or leave a lot of blank spots through the weeks.

  3. It really is beautiful, and it would be a great thing to display on EMC

-What do you want to see on the Empire? I want to see new gametypes and varieties of minecraft. To be honest, a good idea would to have sister servers that are independent and strive towards their own goals, however they still connect with the main server. (like owned by Starlis but connect the communities ;))
-What do you want to see on the Forums? Lots of more discussion of builds and outposts.
-What contests do you want to see hosted? I prefer build contests, but I could see fun contests like music ones being promoted :p
-What buildings do you want on 120 x 120 residences? Monuments. Not replicas but tests to time.
-What else did I not mention? Dunno o3o

  5. I think that a parkour residence would be a great addition to EMC, but I would really want a server-wide event that would feature the upcoming updates in 1.8 (for the future). It could include all of the new crafting recipes, features, and other things associated with 1.8. Another suggestion would be for the spawn, I think that the spawns for all the servers are nice, but I think that they all look like a actual residence, besides the amount of beacons and other stuff. Other assorted PvP events would be nice for the community to play.

Thanks for reading my post! :D

  6. Don't know if this was mentioned yet, but here goes nothing...

-What do you want to see on the Empire? Chairs! Use /chair create to toggle chair placing mode/use a stick on stairs to turn them into a chair, then give people the Sitting permission and voila!
-What do you want to see on the Forums? I don't go on the forums all that much, so I'm not sure. Maybe a mobile style for the forums.
-What contests do you want to see hosted? Writing contests? I wrote a book called Herobrine, and it's a best-seller, so I think this would be a fun contest.
-What buildings do you want on 120 x 120 residences? Erm... Forests?
-What else did I not mention? Not sure...

  7. I do not have a good moment to write a solid suggestion at the moment, but I will bring things up as they come to me later on.
On 120x120 residences, I would like to have the staff team hold a building contest (in creative), which should be pretty easy to set up with multiverse. Whoever wins the contest will get a small recognition somewhere significant in the build and their build will be world edited into the 120 x 120 residence. :D

  8. Another idea: Enchanted Book of Soulbinding!
Attached is a screenshot of it, as well as it enchanting a Diamond Sword (all made in singleplayer)

  10. Maybe some kind of arena that designated players can run for the public

  11. Just had a thought for the 120x120 residences... Maybe make one of them like a big marketplace? Edit: One or a few on one server?
    Like this:

But the shops are run by players who can rent them out for a certain amount of rupees. It could be a certain amount to rent for a day, a week and a month. Or maybe on a certain day of the week it could be "Market Day" where all the stalls are filled for most of the day and little events are held around the market?
Just a little idea I had, it could be interesting to show off our economy in a more 'newbie' friendly way rather then having the mega malls ruling everything...
    • I want to see more amazing builds by great architect players.
    • I want to see amazing moving/shifting inventions, and games.
    • I want to see more people living happily in the Frontier.
    • I want to see massive Frontier community projects that dwarf a Town residence.
    • I want to see these massive Frontier projects used by EMC dev team to create adventures, events, games.
    • I want to see Quests, either simple in-town 'collect items/treasure hunt' quests, or 'Enter the Frontier and kill 100 creeper' style quests. Ideally these will be run automatically by the server and record the player has completed the tasks and given the reward. Completely automated, players can complete the quests any time they wish, without needing staff interaction.
    • I want to see every new player build on their res, and visit the wastelands and the Frontier (overworld and Nether) before they log out. (Again, new player quest system. Similar to many Skyblock's challenge system. Complete each challenge to be given a reward. Byt the time a new player has finished a challenge, they have lots of equipment, more rupees, and big selection of building blocks).
    • I want to see 'Easter eggs' hidden around non-player residences. Spawn, 120x120 admin reses, event reses, etc.
    • (someone else already mentioned it) - A special shop sign that allows a player to take 1 of whatever you it is.
    The Frontier Auto-house:
    1. Run a build competition to build a simple/advanced house with X things in it. Top few designs, both voted on by players, and chosen by staff or build team.
    2. Chosen winning builds are given a rupee value.
    3. Players can purchase the build for Y rupees.
    4. You can place the build down anywhere in the Frontier/Town, and can 'pick it up' for 50% it's cost in rupees.
    5. Player can place the build down by placing a chest (or whatever block item), and the build pops up.
    6. EDIT: Possibly have to restrict the build: When 'picked up', the build will simply 'delete', possibly dropping any items from chests, or placed blocks in the build area. And when placed down again, will be as preset, no items in chests etc. (To prohibit people from using it to transport stuff).
In addition to being a money-sink for EMC, it will allow new players, or lazy players to carry a quick-start house with them into the wild. Place the house and get started on your little wild base.

    120 x 120 Residences:
    • Beautiful, amazing builds! By teams of great architects. Selected by the players, or from build competitions. Not the.. kind of average builds we have on some already. Breathtaking, or thought provoking structures.
    • Educational tutorial style builds: Something a player can travel through learning things as they go "See how it works".
    • Mazes, adventures, puzzles, epic Rails, watersides
    • Incorporate the Quest system into these. Player must search the 120x120 residence to find clues or pieces of a puzzle, perhaps even a token of some sort. Complete them all and finish the quest.
  12. EDIT: Possibly have to restrict the build: When 'picked up', the build will simply 'delete', possibly dropping any items from chests, or placed blocks in the build area. And when placed down again, will be as preset, no items in chests etc. (To prohibit people from using it to transport stuff).

  13. Minecraft is/will soon be getting old, we need to expand the Empire brand to other multiplayer games.

  14. Lol, sounds like a tui commercial

In New Zealand (where i live), we have a brand of beer called 'Tui' (also the name of a native bird). Tv adds/commercials for this beer feature absurd things that just don't happen.
