Yes - Reset the non Town worlds WITH a weeks notice and special features during that time 399 vote(s) 89.5%
No - I want them all to stay the way they are now, do not reset 47 vote(s) 10.5%
  1. So with almost 90% in favor of a reset at the moment, can we assume that this is a done deal? If so, any ideas on when it will be happening? A week after the new hardware is in?
  2. I am pretty sure it is going to happen. Once the new hardware is in place I am going to spend some time playing with fresh 1.2 world generation on a test server, just to test out and make sure everything is smooth before we even start on a schedule for resets :)

Edit: We will prob launch smp7 as the first MC 1.2 new world server, to work out any kinks before we plan on resetting all the other servers :)

  3. According to phone companies, 1 + 1 is often 2. I once attended an oil and gas conference and there was a booth there for a company whose entire business revolves around arguing with phone companies so businesses (who often deal with thousands of accounts) only have to pay what they agreed to, and don't get charged extra based on 'errors'.

I also want to add that the glowstone is most definitely NOT gone. I just built a bridge about 400 blocks into the nether and already LOADS of glowstone.
  4. Allow me to explain in a way that is understandable for everyone here, and no, I'm not trying to say everyone else here is less intelligent, I'm just saying that maybe we need to have someone explain this situation for everyone to understand better.

    Those for the reset:
A lot of us are tired of falling into holes other people leave, and doing damage to ourselves in the process. we're also tired of having to burn tons of energy, and thus food to restore that energy lost by jumping, to get to a part of the wilderness that doesn't have massive holes in it. This makes it take far too long to get there, putting lower level players at risk of being ganged up on by creepers, skeletons, and zombies, as well as the occasional enderman, while trying to get to an un-excavated area to get materials and hunt for things like saplings and ocelots to take home.

    Those against:
On the other hand, those who actually live out in the wilderness and only come into town for supplies, and have massive houses they have built, don't want the wilderness reset because that would mean they lose their houses, and the farms they built around their homes.

  5. it's easy to take up the rail and everything inside the house.
  6. I agree. The Empire wilderness is hard to even explore, which I like to do. So to reset the wild would be the best!
And by the way, when will the wilderness be reset?
  7. i think the reset is a good idea, im not one of those lazy people that only sticks to area near the spawn i have actually found it more fun to go to the nether and make another portal out, this sends me to a random location in the wild, and i use a compass to find my way back

so i vote yes to reset
  8. Thanks :) Samurai Jack was one of my favorites.:D
  9. Good to have some confirmation. Won't have to be paranoid about the definition of abuse!
  10. Add losing XP grinders, and spawners to cons :(
  11. Sounds like a plan to me!
  12. As soon as Justin upgrades all the servers, and probably after Smp7 launches. We will all get a weeks notice ;)
  13. A note about the regeneration: A lot of people seem to think this will 'fix' the issue with the region surrounding spawn. I invite thouse people to look at SMP6 where the area regenerated every week is decimated in a similar manner to the other servers. This is a people problem.
  14. Agreed, but that doesnt matter, the people can't see that.
  15. Agreed. The idea of the 'pure' new wilderness is, I must admit, tantalizing. No matter what, the place will look as if 2012 came early. The main, driving force behind this reset is not to have jungles and more ores, although that is a nice benefit. What we are really trying to resolve here is the world glitch that occurs when previously explored chunks meet newly generated areas of map, creating a sort of forcefield that lags one back and forth between chunks. I have experienced this and it is NOT fun.
  16. Here's one of the reasons for those that haven't seen it yet.

What happens when New meets Old.

Speaking of which, now I've found a Jungle biome, cheap saplings anyone? :D

  17. I think it's best for a reset, think of it as new beginning's. Anyone can work hard; To work hard and look forward to it, that's a true visionary. I look forward with an open heart to the wild reset. :)
  18. It's not just new meets old either, I've been exploring waaay out, and it's all newly generated stuff, but I keep getting stripy biomes, where it's forest/ocean/forest/ocean, the ocean is meant to be forest and it's clear of everything but dirt, you crash into invisible walls and I have to relog to make it work right, exploring it gets to the point I have to relog every few minutes to be able to continue.

  19. The impact is directly evident just entering the wild some times, like when a chunk intersecting the spawn point didn't load, leaving me suspended in the air.
