Debate/Argue Thread

  1. If you are actually a Christian, you will not go to hell. Given, if you just say you are a Christian but don't act like it and have not actually accepted God, then you are not a Christian. But, if someone is actually and truly a Christian, no sin can send them to hell, that is what Jesus came for.
  2. Well then. You just Chritianity a lot more ugly in my eyes.
  3. Is there such as thing as absolute truth?
  4. Just one. Everything we "know" about how life, the universe, and everything works is based on observation and perception - through our own senses, or through the machines we build to fill in where our senses are insufficient. Even the old axiom about the two certainties in life being death and taxes - if you figure in the belief in an afterlife or reincarnation, neither is an absolute certainty.

Which leaves just one: The only absolute truth is, there are no absolutes.
  5. That is an oxymoron.
  6. My two cents seeing as this thread has been alive for a while.....God said not to eat pork......I have not had any pork product in about 6 years......since i discovered that God said not to eat that stuff.....
(Oh and Giraffes are Scripturally Kosher)

    And Ponies are awesome.....
  7. But, if the absolute truth is that there are no absolutes than that proves that statement wrong
  8. I'm aware of that.

You brought this on yourself, you realize. :D
  9. I know, I love stuff like this. I believe in absolutes. If there is nothing completely true, then what is the point of these 34 pages of debate? The only way to argue against absolute truth is to use absolutes, which proves that there are absolutes while trying to do the opposite. If you flip a coin, and it lands heads up, then the statement "The coin is heads up" is true. That is absolute, as long as which side is heads has been determined beforehand.
  10. . . .

  11. Is this a concession of defeat my sir? XD
  12. Then what is the point in believing and worshiping and doing as we're told if we're just gonna burn anyway?

  14. The current topics seemed to have died down a bit... so here's a new one.

Reselling-Is it good? Bad? I personally always think it's a fine thing to do, people are just finding ways to make money. Until... I get my own shop and people buy all my stock for some $$$$$$$'ssss. So I guess you could mark me down as -undecided-

    What say you, people?
  15. Well, here's my opinion:
    You have a shop.
    You have stock.
You set a price that YOU think it's fair.
If people buy it, that's good for you, you shouldn't care about reselling, you are getting money!
If I notice people reselling from me, what I do is make the price a bit higher.
Same works for people selling a lot to you.
IMO, when you lose a lot of money because people sold a lot of stuff to you, it's almost all your fault.
You should have capped the chest.
You should have made the :S price a bit lower.
    But that's my opinion :p

I'm ok with it theoretically. In practice it's a sad way to stock a shop. Also, when someone cleans a chest it leaves me scrambling to restock when I might have had something else I wanted to do.
  17. I think Reselling is ok to a point. If they're only buying maybe a few items and then reselling, then I see no issue. BUT if they're trying to run their own shop and aren't even bothering to leave Town and are emptying your chests faster than you can fill them I see where it's an issue.
  18. Even then I'm ok with it. Most items I sell cost 0 Rupees, a little durability on a tool, plus my time. Really, if you are buying something and marking it up a few Rupees, the joke's on you.

The only real complaint I have is that emptying a chest takes choices away from me regarding how I'm going to be spending my time. I'd much rather that someone arrange to buy a chest of say, Pistons, ahead of time so I can plan on when I want to work on them.

  19. It depends on what you resell
If you go and buy a TV at home depot. and resell it for more money then you bought it, i say that it's wrong because your just making money off of someone else's mistakes.

If you sell a baseball card that has been in your family for generations, it is ok because it's an antique. It has been years since it has been sold.

If your friend gives you something for free, and you resell it that is wrong because that shows disrespect for your friend, and that either A) you don't like the gift B) you don't care about your friend C) You care about money more than your friend or D) you already have the gilf he gave you (Which is then ok to resell(

If you steal something and then resell it, that is wrong because you stole it. It is not rightfully yours.
  20. You can buy a tv at home depot? All I ever see is hardware and lumber ads.
