Hello People! The group stage of the World Cup ⚽️ 🏆 is over and knockout stage begins tomorrow! Wanted to see if anyone wanted to share their predictions for the overall competition or before each match! We have seen very beautiful football so far, and I’m excited for what the knockout stage will deliver. Current Standings! Here are the matches and possible template for your predictions. My predictions are as follows!
yeah, I realize that's a stretch, but I'm betting on Portugal being more lucky than the other teams, rather than being the strongest currently. I could easily see a Morrocco vs. Switzerland quarterfinals and either of them in the semis since both have been playing better than Spain/Portugal.
Last week I'd have bet money on France becoming the first country to win back-to-back World Cups but after that Tunisia showing I genuinely have faith that an on-form England, with Gareth Southgate not afraid to use his team's strengths as he often is, can get through to a semi-final again. I am not going to dare think about any further than that after the 2020 Euros though.
Had that match during the group stages and for all the Yank talk that we’re their ‘rivals’… it was the most boring 0-0 draw I’ve ever watched with England playing it safe and the US team wearing themselves out trying to get a goal. The US team won’t be in the final though, they got beat 3-1 by the Netherlands earlier today and are now out of the competition 😂😂
Netherlands 3 - 1 USA ps: also if any1 knows of a channel that does good goal highlights, that they prefer, lemme know to use for the following matches Match Stats I was hoping for more from USA, but they lacked definition today. Netherlands played great! next match is in an hour! Argentina vs. Australia
Argentina 2 - 1 Australia Great game! Match Stats! Also keeping the OP updated with the current standings
I would have a question to ask, if only this was in the Controversial section. I considered this mildly amusing. (Mark Rutte is minister-president of the Netherlands; someone pointed out that the king should've made the tweet, but eh... maybe that discussion is also for the Controversial section )
I thought it was funny seeing England and America tie at 0-0. My friend and I were at our local Mexican food chain and they had it playing on the big screen. We watched it while we were there and when I got home, I saw headlines that they tied. Seems they both met their match heh
Not at all. Days prior, England scored six goals against Iran. That single match guaranteed we would top our group and qualification for the knockout stage was just two points away. The USA struggled against Wales, a team that hadn't even qualified for the World Cup since 1956 because they were awful at the game for sixty years, and was placed third in the group. If they lost against England they'd have needed a miracle against Iran. England was playing a game that didn't matter to us. We used our weaker starting XI (to keep our better players rested for tougher teams). Didn't throw everything we had at the opposition. In fact, had we lost it we might have dropped down the group ranking, meaning we wouldn't have to face France (who won the WC in 2018) in the quarter-finals... meaning we would have had incentive to lose. Chances are the strikers and wingers didn't want to strain themselves against a weak team and the defence just wanted to keep our unbeaten streak going rather than outright win. Compare to the USA who threw their best players into the match, tried to drum up some weird talk of a 'rivalry' between our two teams, were fighting to qualify, throwing everything they had at trying to get a singular goal and still failed to get one. Cup contender vs. team who struggled against one of the worst teams in the group stages. The US met their match against Wales and England is probably meeting ours in our match against France 💀💀
Matches of the day! England 3 - 0 Senegal Amazing shots and great opportunities for both teams, but at the end of the day, England was the one to manage to score the goals. France 3 - 1 Poland no comments, since i didn't manage to see it live, but love it when there are a bunch of goals!
Fox sports - they were the first I found ngl… if you know of other channels that do a good job with football replays let me know and I’ll switch ‘em
Morocco won again and is now in the quarter finals of the world cup for the first time ever. That's cool, I just wish everyone could celebrate without rioting.
