Compass Update / Performance / Bug Fixes - 5/30/2020

  1. Fantastic up, love the ability to toggle also /compass hide - show :+1:
  2. Could I make a few suggestions for the nether brick spawning of wither skeles?

First, could you y-lock spawning? There’s no reason for them to spawn on netherbrick at y10, fortresses never have spawn areas down that far. Find out what the y-range is for fortresses and lock spawning to those levels.

Even with this, we’re looking at new farms quickly and easily abusing this feature for increased spawn rates. For that, I’d also like to suggest a spawn rate limit for an area that keeps any new farms in line with old spawn rates. This will help, but any new farms will still be more efficient and much easier to build.

Per a previous comment, blazes also spawn now on these, which is fine. But I’d suggest applying the same spawn limits to them as the wither skeles.

    That’s all :)

Edit - Forgot to add, great update though! Love the compass feature :D
  3. Ooh, that's a really clever implementation of the compass! Very cool. :)

And this is even better! Why is this not in vanilla Minecraft?
  4. Parts of some may have broken, but Fryed has repeatedly said his didn't break, and I see no reason this update would break it.
  5. I agree with the Y limit, but again, it's also not that easy to condition the area. It takes a lot of effort so it's not like this makes it any easier. But I don't agree with limiting the spawns as I currently have a fortress that's 100*170 wide that I am going to use and I plan on using the entire bounding box. I'm not sure if there's any way to differentiate between that natural but very large fortress and the nethebrick that gets placed by players in the middle of nowhere. It's not hard to find a giant fortress that takes up most of an area anyway, so the only thing that really needs to be locked is the Y distance. That's the biggest danger here.

  6. Well that is nice for him then :p I also don't know why they would break but doesn't change the fact that mine seems affected. A couple witches a minute is not a normal thing. Even with EMCs smaller spawn rates compared to vanilla, I still got plenty.

I also agree with JD. Limits should be in place for spawn heights. This essentially makes the entire nether a fortress.

  7. I'm even sure how much vanillas structure was limited. Yes players can use this to expand size, but Y level won't help because people will just do it at whatever Y level it works for, so why limit location when they can just build it higher? plus lower and higher Y is even more work than middle Y anyways.

  8. These more-frequent updates are awesome! Keep up the good work!! :)
  9. Awesome update!

Just curious is there any specific reason Market chat color was changed?

  10. I twas wondering the same thing.
I mean, I like it... but it is just different and wasn't announced (at least, to my recollection).
  11. Yes. It was determined to be too similar in color to community chat. Kind of blending together - not distinct. That is it.

  12. That feature is gonna be SO useful :D
  13. I have a weird question...
Is it possible that you can add a feature to turn it off and/or on?
  14. You do /compass toggle
    While in game

  15. In addition to /compass toggle, there's also a Player Setting for it:
    /ps set compass on|off
I'm working on editing several wiki pages for it as I type this :)

  18. I talked to Dinnerbone about it a week ago and he said he thought it was already doing it.... So he thinks they were working to try to do similar but maybe didn't get finished.

Irony is, Dinnerbone is now the boss of MC development (hes head of Bedrock now too) and he doesn't even know everything going on in the code lol.

Had to teach him about many things we've improved that Vanilla needs in that chat.
  19. aikar for mc code owner :p

  20. Nah, then he'll have even less time for EMC. :p
