Mob Heads Question

  1. Hey there, so recently I made a trip out to my dual blaze farm (needed to put enchanted books on over a DC of tools... :p) and I was wondering if a change was made to how mob heads are dropped. I read through the Survival Update v2 thread and did not see anything.

I have killed enough blazes to net over 6DC of blaze rods so far- and haven't gotten a single head (not that I particularly need them anyways I am just curious). I know I have gotten heads from my x2 blaze before because I have a few trophies hanging on the wall for their blaze brethren to see before they fall prey to my sword >: D (totally need an evil face emoji...). Not sure if there is a command I need to apply that I am missing or if the drop chance was drastically lowered. Also not sure if difficulty matters but I have mine set to 7.

    Thanks!
  2. diff matters. If you read about the difficulty settings, that is one of the things that matters. Then there is looting, which increases the drop chance.

Other than that.... try and try and try again. Heads are a little finicky to get, in my experience.
  3. If you are using a blaze farm, then you are doing damage softening. You only hit them with one hit to kill. This is why you get no heads. If you want heads, you need to attack them with full damage. But you really don't want to do that at a blaze farm. You'll probably break the farm and break yourself. My recommendation if you want blaze heads is to go to the Nether Hunting Grounds on SMP8 and just run around killing mobs. You'll get all kinds of nether heads that way including blaze heads.

  5. That makes sense. I didn't need the heads was just curious why I wasn't getting them lol.

    Thanks!

  6. That hunting ground is a great area for sure. I was going to build my blaze farm so that I do all the damage. Hopefully works lol Basically wait for a bunch to build up then close them off above so that can't escape and aggro everything.

As far as other heads, only heads that don't seem to be dropping are Elder Guardians and any of the Illagers, except Vex. All the other listed mob heads don't seem to have an issue.
