Hello, its me again

  1. Well hello there.
I believe its been some time since I was active on this forum.
Been some time since I really had the passion for minecraft like I did before. I played every day and night on emc.
I missed the good old days. I was so proud of my veteran or whatever tag when i got it. I forget the name of it now.
Anyway, I am on here really because I don't know who is still here from my time, so i might aswell introduce myself to the newer members.
    Ask me anything.
    What has changed?
  2. Whello there, welcome back. Jelle68 here, if you remember me. :)

Yeah, indeed, quite a lot has changed in the past three years, but not as much as you might think.
There, of course, are a lot more released promo's and such, and a lot of new Items, as we are currently in version 1.12.2 (And updating to 1.15.1 one day...) Additionally, there are some new features, most of them quality of life, that have changed the way we interact with the code a little.
But, mostly, no. Not too much has changed from the technical perspective. There are a few cultural changes though. From my perspective, EMC has gotten a lot more "younger" members as it used to have. And, with that, the community has changed in the expected ways. Quite a lot of people are also currently having this place "on hold" untill the latest update releases, making it a bit more scielent overall.
Economy-wise I'd say inequality has increased a lot. Some people (like me) have a hundered million or more in liquid funds, but the proletariat hasn't really gotten anything richer. Most common items have decreased in value though, as automation has gotten easier for most of them, making most of building relativly easy.
I think that sums the changes up? Hope that helped :)

  3. I was so proud when I hit 1 million rupees. Sitting just near a staggering 40k right now. Then again I do have some "liquid" assets that I am unsure the value of. Hearing that the building economy has dropped kinda depresses me as the last time i remodled my base I sunk a good 40k into it. Then again I am not much of a grinder and instead more of a builder so that will be nice to start rennovations and finishing my roof.
What is the cost of brunt labor? I have a plot that I had all the dirt removed. I was wondering what the price of having a mega farm built would cost.

  4. Welcome back, I never met ya but that's okay. I started in early 2015, that was a great year! It has died down since then. As Jelle said lot more younger player now a days. Enraged mobs are new and their drops. I find myself alone on a smp 1 and 4 often now and hope that will change soon when 1.15 comes out.
I don't know how many builders for hire are here. The economy has definitely dropped off as shops that seen 60 to 75 players a month, are now down to 5 to 10 a month. at least that's my prospective. I do think it will pick back up! Again Welcome back MineMeetsRoblox!
What smp are you on? What kind of farms are you into?

  6. I have been here since 1.2.5, on another account however. I cant put the exact time i fully stopped mc but I remember enraged mobs. I think around the time where you got your own difficulty settings is when i died off a bit.

  7. As far as I know, most people don't let their ruppee balance go up above the 10mil, and I, personally, like to keep it under the 5. It's much safer to just own random promo's, which usually increase in value, instead of have ruppees, that tend to slowly decrease. Also. I don't think I should take all the credit to myself: most of "my" value is that of Tomvanwijnen. (he and I share all our stuff, nowadays)

If you're smart about it, you're defenetly not going to live "poor," no one has to. The nice thing about minecraft is that the game is perfectly playable on itself, meaning you won't have financial problems. Additionally: the amount of younger players also means you can probably accumilate some wealth quite quickly.
What I said means it takes a lot of time to build up the fortune needed to get some of the rarest items in the game, like old versons of supporter vouchers, or items of which only 10 have been dropped at an EMC drop party. The value of the blocks you use to build have decreased (a beacon is only ~7Kr now,) and the value of good design work has increased drastically (I think I made more than ten mil with design work,) so you're defenetly not down anything.
As for the value of labour: if you like schematica building, I, and probably others too, would defenetly have some projects for you, and you could get something like 500k in a month (or two) of hard work, depending on the amount of time you have to spent. :)

I think the only difference between you and me build-wise is that you have to buy the stuff you need to build with, and I alredey have it. When I need an item, I usually just buy a could of DC's and don't ever have to buy it again, making me own a meggamall worth of stock. For my storage on 752, for example, I did not have to buy a single block. Gathering materials consisted of going through my storage and taking out the items I needed, to then craft some stuff and convert some concrete (which took the longest.) You would have to find a place to buy some stuff, which I wouldn't say is deal-breaking. :p

  8. Well i have a nice stockade of building materials stone, brick, dirt, glass, sand. I put my entire roof as quarts. I also bought a large quantity of Iron blocks to build a massive lair but ended up not. Most of why it cost so much is because i got a beacon
  9. And let me be clear i like building as in design. I dont like the grind of using schematics. Instead i freehand most my stuff trying to stay "ocd oriented" but in all measures done off the top of my head.

  10. Welcome back to EMC. Nice to see returning players.
There have been slightly higher numbers of players on over the holidays. You could try to hire a builder through the forum thread for jobs.. as I TV think it's the easier way to reach a wider audience.
    Cheers

  12. What do you guys mean by this? Relative to your own age, I can imagine, because we've all gotten older. But in actual years of age, I'd expect that we'd have less younger players now than we had 6 years ago, because all of us that stuck around got 6 years older, and I frankly feel like we got less new members than we have members that did stick around since the early years. But it is quite possible that my view is greatly skewed because I don't play Minecraft anymore. :p

  13. So far... not much. I mean, new promos and Moople now hosts FireFloor, but other than that, not much else.

  14. Lately to me it seems like most of the players (in game) are new and younger, than the players I hung around with 4 to 5 years ago. Many of the veterans aren't in game on a regular bases anymore. I'll name a few I use to chat with often, and now seem to pop in for a minute then leave. I'm guessing for derelict reasons. P2nda, Kalialama, LaChica8, ChristopherJ, neffykitty and many more. I miss them immensely!

  15. Yeah, I don't recognise any of these names. :p I guess the situations in-game and on the forum differ greatly in this regard... which isn't surprising, if you believe (as I do) that forums have been continuously declining in popularity for the last decade!
