    EMC, how are you?

Welcome to the 1st annual SPOTIFY WRAPPED OFFICIAL THREAD. Better late than never am I right? If you know me at all, or stalk me the slightest bit.. it's no secret how deep rooted my passion is for music. I probably am one of the only few people who get so beyond hyped up for a year to end, just so I can be told how much of my life I spent listening to Lewis Capaldi. I recently posted a status bout this event and the reactions were sick. I got so happy to see everyone else's Spotify stats for 2019. With this in mind, I decided to finally make a thread bout music.. so here you all go.

    -_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

If you live under a rock, Spotify itself is a music streaming platform that allows you to follow, stream, and rave over any music with or without ads. As of recent posts on jaq's streaming service showdown thread (linked below), you all know how I feel bout Spotify. Literal love child. Spotify, like any other app these days, collects data based on how much you listen to a particular artist, genre, or style. Recommending you music you still wouldn't like is it's specialty. With this, comes Spotify Wrapped. Spotify hosts a yearly summary of your favorite artists, genre, songs, and other things such as minutes listened. (which in my opinion is a form of clout but /shrug) People compare these to other years and each other to see how we are similar and different. It's just a genuinely cool experience to bond over okay?

This all being said, welcome to the Annual Spotify Wrapped (2019 Edition) Thread!
I will be hosting another next year.

Apologies for such large images, when spoiler decides to work I will update them. I included pretty much everything from the summary for mine, no you do not have to.. I just wanted to. As you can tell, I spent a lot of time on Spotify and with a lot of certain artists. Sadly, I fell in love with YUNGBLUD too late for him to show up on here. I 100% expect NF, Lewis, YUNGBLUD, and maybe Bazzi to show up again.

  14. My results were significantly skewed (far more than I expected) by my grandma, surprisingly. We gave her an Echo for Christmas last year and I set up spotify using my account, and apparently she uses it A LOT to the point that most of my top songs are her music. It makes me laugh and smile.

That being said, I still got some interesting statistics! Remove Bill and Gloria Gaither from the list and the top artists are a pretty accurate portrayal.

    Genres:
    Top Artists of the Year:
    Top Artists of the Decade:
  15. I have no time for a fancy post with the pictures, but I figured no one really cares anyway so I'll just plop them here.

    TOP ARTISTS:
    1. Megadeth (31 Hours)
    2. Cannibal Corpse
    3. Misfits
    4. Death
    5. Exodus

If anyone knows me they knew that Megadeth was going to be at the top. As my favourite band of all time I will go to my death bed saying they are one of the greatest in general.
Cannibal Corpse was obvious, my second favourite :)
Misfits actually surprised me, I know I listen to them a lot but I totally forgot about them.

    GENRE FLUID:
    1. Metal
    2. Deathgrind
    3. Rock
    4. Pop Punk
    5. Punk

I'm not even gonna talk about number 1, but number 2 as deathgrind surprised me because I don't really listen to grind that much. I think spotify just classifies all extreme music it like that, way to represent the metalheads spotify :/.
Pop punk was a WTF moment until I realized Misfits is basically 1980s pop punk and Marianas Trench is pop punk as well

    MINUTES:
    2016: 488
    2017: 5,251 minutes
    2018: 34,566
    2019: 25,581

I thought those numbers were high until I saw everyone else getting 50k minutes and above... I guess i'm wasting my premium, lol.

    TOP SONGS:
    1. Piranha- Exodus
    2. Hammer Smashed Face - Cannibal Corpse
    3. In My Darkest Hour - Megadeth
    4. Wake up Dead - Megadeth
    5. For Whom the Bells Toll - Metallica

The top songs list is hilarious because these are all the songs I know on guitar which I practiced to on spotify. I would play guitar and practice it over the song like a backing track.

I'm just more surprised that I got such low minutes.
  16. bastille! and daft punk!! and VANCE JOY!!!
  17. I wonder, why are these statistics for 2019 available when, as far as I know, 2019 hasn't ended yet?

I listen to music when I travel to and from school every day, so around 2-2.5 hours a day from that already... :p I used to (when I only had to cycle for 15-20 minutes and didn't have my new laptop yet) also listen from my computer often while doing schoolwork or playing Minecraft, but I don't get to that much anymore (I do most of what I have to do at school)... Anyways, I listen to downloaded livestreams so I don't have statistics unfortunately, but I can say that I've heard most countless times. :p

    My Reaction
Well, I certainly expected all of these results, except the genres. Rock, ok, soul, believable, chillhop, I guess I listened to that a bit, mellow gold, I don't know what that is, but ok, but country? I probably listened to only two songs that are somewhat considered "country": Dolly Parton's "Jolene", and John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" (anyone else here watch RTGame?). Everything else was accurate.
